Father of the donor, Mervyn Graham, worked for Denny Lascelles for many years as a wool classer in Geelong and later as a representative in Hamilton. The Denny Lascelles Wool Warehouse was the first building in Victorian planned to facilitate storage, inspection and marketing of wool in one operation, and upon completion was the second largest store in the colony. Early relations between Kalkadoondeet (Kalkatungu) and Jajowurrung (Djadjawurrung) people and settlers. Violence and retribution reulting from tensions over the grazing and destruction of settlers, sheep and cattle which had overrun their waterholes and hunting groungs. Numbers and names of some Aboriginal people killed in the Ararat region. Weaving is the interlacing of two yarns, one at right angles to the other. Yarns that run the length of the fabric are called the warp. Yarns that run across the fabric are called the weft. Most woven fabrics are produced on a loom. The warp yarns are raised to form an opening - the shed. The weft carrier, usually the shuttle, shoots through the shed.
