The SS Maloja was a passenger liner operated by The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation between 1923 and 1954. The ship was requisitioned by the Admiralty for service as an Armed Merchant Cruiser upon her arrival at AdenB & W landscape photograph with view from the dock of nearside port bow and superstructure of a moored ship. Men at dockside level are loading or unloading with net in foreground. railway vehicles are lined alongside under a shed. A faint series of letters can be made out near the portholes towards top of bow. This could be name of the vessel. This stencil was used to mark bags of dried bean seed, in this case Brown Beauty bean seeds, produced by farmers in the Orbost district and clean and bagged by Fisher Bros., seed bean merchants of Orbost. This stencil is significant because it was specially made for the seed bean industry which was a major industry in the Orbost district for the first half of the 20th century. A galvanised iron sheet from which words have been cut out to form a stencil. The tin was made for Griffiths Bros who were Australian merchants of tea, coffee and cocoa. They had branches in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. The tins when emptied became useful storage containers.A large rectangular Griffiths Bros Choice Tea Net 7lbs. 1834 - 1934, metal storage tin with a hinged lid. Victoria's Centenary 1934 -5 is printed on the top left corner of the label. The Griffiths Bros label is in yellow script on the front with other text related to the contents, as well as a Trade Mark "SIGNAL" illustration and text at the bottom right. The label is outlined in green and yellow edging with country landscape at the top and city views at the bottom. The Africa Star was granted for operational service in North Africa from the date of the entry of Italy into the war on 10 June 1940, up to the date of the cessation of operations against the enemy in North Africa on 12 May 1943. The Africa Star may also be awarded for operational service as a member of the Australian Defence Force during the Syrian Campaign in the period from 8 June 1941 to 11 July 1941. This medal is awarded for a minimum of one days operational service in North Africa, west of the Suez Canal between 10 June 1940 and 12 May 1943 and in Syria between 8 June 1941 and 11 July 1941. Clasps Three clasps were issued for the Africa Star: 8 th Army 1 st Army North Africa 1942-43 Only one clasp is worn and when the ribbon is worn alone a ribbon emblem, ‘8', ‘1' or silver rosette as appropriate is worn to denote the award of a clasp. The Medal The Africa Star is a six–pointed star of yellow copper zinc alloy. The obverse has a central design of the Royal and Imperial cypher, surmounted by a crown. The cypher is surrounded by a circlet containing the words ‘The Africa Star'. Stars issued to Australian personnel have recipient names engraved on the plain reverse. The Ribbon The Africa Star ribbon colours represent the desert and the service of the Armies, Naval Forces, Merchant Navy and the Air Forces. Recipient is not engraved on reverse, so, either a replica or not issued to Australianmedal africa star -

A large corrugated iron store owned by ‘Patmore & Dinham: Produce, Manure and General Merchants’. The store was located in Scottsdale, northeast Tasmania. For more than forty years, George Melville Dinham had occupied a prominent position in the Scottsdale community.
