The two pieces of laminate show the different shades used by the MMTB in their vehicles, both trams and buses. Memorabilia - Sample of worn cable tram rope
Section of worn cable tram wire rope. One of the two ferrules has been engraved with "243 Weeks 341591 Miles" and the other "ANTD 12 Weeks" - "ANTD" is thought to be an abbreviation for anticipated. On this basis, the cable rope lasted 20 times its expected life! Gold Medallion 8 stars, with a shield in the centre which has been engraved "E M". On the rear engraved "Presented to E Murphy as a token of esteem from fellow employees at Malvern Tramways". On base stamped "Catanach" with three jewellers Hallmarks. Possibly c1915. Made for Catanach Jewellers of Melbourne, by based on the Hallmarks, by Willis & Sons of Melbourne, manufacturing jewellers.Demonstrates a gold medallion presentation by the Malvern Tramways (PMTT).Metal - 9ct gold - medallion engraved with the initials EM on the front and an engraving on the rear. The tram has been modified with bracing and open saloon seats changed from cross bench to longitudinal and has been painted in SEC 1930s colours with an SEC monogram. Soldiers of 5 Platoon, B Company, 7 RAR, preparing to board VS Iroquois helicopters during operation Ulmarrah, the cordon and search of Lang Phuoc Hai Village, South Vietnam, 26 August 1967". Members of 5 Platoon, B Company, 7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (7RAR), just north of the village of Lang Phuoc Hai, beside Route 44 leading to Dat Do. United States Army Iroquois helicopters are landing to take them back to Nui Dat after completion of Operation Ulmarra, the cordon-and-search by 7RAR of the coastal village of Lang Phuoc Hai. Operation Ulmarra was conducted by 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR) and 7RAR with support elements. Left to right: Private (Pte) Peter Capp (kneeling); Pte Bob Fennell (leaning over, facing camera, with an ammunition belt for an M60 machine gun slung over his shoulder); Corporal Bob D'Arcy (partly obscured behind Fennell); Pte Neal Hasted (centre, front); Pte Ian Jury (partly obscured, centre, rear, holding rifle); Pte Colin Barnett (front, right, M60 ammunition belt on back, back of head to camera); Lance Corporal Stan Whitford (partly obscured behind Barnett); the helicopter marshal at right is Pte John Raymond Gould, 7RAR. Doll, whose name was Janet was given to Rosalie Schwerkolt Whalen as a child in 1945 with a lemon voile dress and matching bonnet and a patterned voile dress.Baby doll bought to Rosalie Schwerkolt by Santa Claus in 1945. The doll has a cloth body with a composition hard material for head, arms and hands and legs and feet. Face has blue eyes that close and red lips slightly parted to show teeth. Moulded brown curls for hair. Formerly a crying doll - mechanism under material on back and isn't working. A pair of pale blue and pink elastic edging. The names of the Amess women who owned the lace are: Jane Amess (nee Straughan) – donor Unity’s great grandmother (pet name Janet, but not used as it will confuse with Unity’s mother). Jane was the wife of Samuel Amess, first Samuel Amess to own Churchill Island. Frances Amess (nee Turnbull) – grandmother, married Robert Lisle Straughan Amess, 4th child of Samuel and Jane Janet Jickell (nee Amess) – mother, 2nd of two children of Robert and Francis, married James Jickell Unity Mary Bright (nee Jickell) was the donor, 2nd of two children of Robert and Francis. The Amess family owned Churchill Island from 1872 to 1929.
