One of 2 types of badges issued to female relatives, this one being a round rather than an oval one. It is in good condition, no parts missing although it has not been cleaned or polished in some time. The badge has the Royal Crown at the top of a blue enamelled stirling silver circle . Underneath and attached to the circle is a blue enamelled horizontal stirling silver banner with 2 eyelets at either end of the banner. In the centre of the circle is an anchor with a chain entwined around it.

When I lobbed back I found them all pasted in these albums by my young brother Billy. He was only a kid then! Nowadays he is serving up North. Went away with the original 9th Battn. Was in the Blitz on England and served in Libya, Tobruk, Greece, Crete and Palestine and was twice knocked. It's not long since the last upheaval 1914-18 and I wonder if these boys think as we did. Tunic and badges assembled by owner to respresent a Great War Light Horse tunic from WW2 Tunic which is almost identical to the Great War tunics worn by Light Horse OR's. This tunic forms part of a mannequin essemble representing a 1st AIF 4th Light Horse soldier of the period 1916-1919 serving in Sinai, Palestine and Jordan.Tunic, OR's, 1st AIF style. Woollen serge, 8 oz, Olive drab, 4 patch pockets, 4 large plastic buttons, beige, 9 small plastic buttons, beige.
