Set of three Kodak cardboard mounted slides - have handwritten captions and slide numbers - no date, post dash canopy lights but with the largely green front - early 1960's. From the Eldon Hogan collection. Scanned on the Canon scanner at the depot 15/12/1971 at the time of the installation of the scanner. .1 - No. 16 and a bogie car at Charing Cross, early 1960's with the City Club Hotel in the background. .2 - No. 18 at Charing Cross with the destination of Quarry Hill and with the City Club Hotel in the background .3 - No. 25 at the Eaglehawk terminus with two crewmen standing in front of the tram. Administrative record - Work Book
The item is a soft cover book recording daily work of T.J. Connolly, Ironmongers, Sandhurst. Each handwritten page is dated at the top and records the customer surname, goods supplied, price of items and total price. In most entries, a town or area is included after the customer's name. Each page has been wavy lines added over each customer entry. The red soft cover has a decorative inlay both front and back with some wearing at the corners. The number "231" is stamped directly on the front cover. The pages are bound together with string. The book includes the date range of 25 February 1897 to 24 May 1897. All pages have been used. This item is part of the Margaret Roberts Collection.At crossed tick has been added to the front cover to the left of the "231" stamp. A line of ink sits under some water marks at the top of the front cover. Green cloth, covered heavy cardboard both sides ticket or pass, titled "Tramway Pass - 1953-54" for limbless and disabled soldiers, issued by the MMTB with MMTB logo on the rear. Ticket printed with paper sheets glued to the cloth on the inside and a photo of the person issued to glued to the right hand side. Issued to John Cameron of 82 Victoria St Carlton, signed by the Secretary (Mr Warner). Note date of pass is 1-10-53, though it appears to be issued in 1955. Available to 30-6-1954. Has a photo of Mr. Cameron. Advised Mr. Cameron had lost a leg during the war. Note - not available on all night services. These newspaper articles were collated by Mary Gilbert. Mary Isabelle Gilbert was born in 1905 in Orbost, Australia. She was born to John Gilbert and Annie Cameron Gilbert, and had seven sisters and one brother. Four siblings died at a young age. She was a teacher historian loved and respected by her family and the wider community.These articles are contemporary records of events in the history of Orbost and as such are useful reference tools.A manila folder containing black / white newspaper cuttings of articles relating to the local history of Orbost. Clothing, white cotton christening gown. Low rounded neckline with casing and cotton tape ties. Bodice at back and sides. Casing and cotton ties on sides and back to centre back opening (25 cm). Full length centre front panel of embroidered lace fabric with two panels of horizontal pintucks. Lower edge of centre panel ends with two layers of broiderie lace ( 9cm and 17 cm). vertical edges of centre panel trimmed with 5 cm strip of lace. Centre lace panel widens from 8 cm at waist to 54 cm at hem. Hem of back and sides is trimmed with one layer of 9 cm broiderie lace below a 2.5 cm tuck. Double layer lace to form short cap sleeves. Image is an ESCo tram near the intersection of Doveton St. and Sturt St. travelling west along the south side of Sturt. Steet. Photo taken soon after opening of the electric trams. Shows buildings along the north side of Sturt St. and the building at the SE corner of Doveton St. ESCo tram has destination board on the front dash of the tram.
