Four photographs of the Emu Creek Bush Band performing in the Hargreaves Street Malll, Bendigo. Three of these photos have the name of Oscar Wilde written on the back. accordianist, 98 years old.

Marion “Annie” (Cooper) Harrison, a milliner by trade, designed and made women’s hats, initially in the 1940s in High Street, and later in the 1950s and 60s at 5 Princess Street. The hats were constructed upstairs in her shop in Princes Street while the ground floor was reserved for sales and display. She employed other milliners to assist but always ran the showroom herself. Hectic periods were in the weeks before the big racing carnivals when the many wealthy race-goers of Kew kept her busy. She typically walked to her business as she and her husband, Fred Harrison, lived locally. Annie died in April 2016, at the great age of 107 years. Her hats are held in local and national collections.The Kew Historical Society’s fashion and design collection is comprised of costumes, hats, shoes and personal accessories. Many of these items were purchased or handmade in Victoria; some locally in Kew. The extensive hat collection comprises items dating from the 1860s to the 1970s. While most of the hats in the collection were created by milliners for women, there are a number of early and important men’s hats in the collection. The headwear collection is particularly significant in that it includes the work of notable Australian and international milliners.Apricot coloured felt woman’s hat retailed by Anne Harrison of Kew. This veterinary equipment was found in a walk-through dairy at Wombat Track, Orbost. They were identified by vet, Peter Honey, (9.1.2015) as medical instruments improvised for veterinary use pre 1960's.These items are representative of items used in Orbost on dairy farms in the first half of 20th century.Three glass syringes of different sizes. All have stainless steel collars. This ledger was used initially by H. James & Co., Shipping and General Commission agents in Orbost in the late 19th century and early 20th century. It was then used by James and Bird, Auctioneers and Estate Agents.Henry James (1860-1932) was a well-known identity in the Orbost district. He was a stock agent and auctioneer who helped to establish the seed bean industry in Orbost. He was the second secretary of the Snowy River Shipping Co. as well as a shire councillor and prominent member of MUIOOF. John Bird was an auctioneer and estate agent,A large handwritten ledger with blue/green cloth covers. It has brown suede corner pieces and a suede spine. This case and its contents are believed to have been owned and used by a jockey who rode in the Orbost area. It contained a set of stirrups, two sets of spurs, and two leather jockey leggings.Horse racing as a sport and recreational activity were once part of Orbost's history.A brown leather case, rectangular in shape, a leather handle, with a metal plate on the lid, and leather loops through which straps could be threaded to surround the case. Used in agriculture in the Orbost district, to cut hay or silage, most likely on the Mundy farm. The original Mundy family moved to a land "selection" at Betebolong in the early 1880's from Buchan. A large flat iron blade with an iron handle attached. The blade is sharper on the bottom side and shows some evidence of perhaps having been serrated.agricultural-implement hay-silage-knife
