Large cloth bound ledger, hard board cover, front and back. Over a hundred pages not all numbered. Handwritten. Dates from 1906 - 1922. ledger filled with names, addresses, financial details, and glued in posters of land sales associated with clients. Castlemaine is listed as the area for the ledger and also St Anaud, Maryborough, Avoca, Inglewood, Dunolly, Daylesford, Maldon, Heathcote, Woodend. Scratched on the front cover is a faded reading of 'Castlemaine.' There are 3 names mentioned on the page, it appears the letters possibly from post cards have been copied onto this one sheet. Two are from Lark Hill England from Alf Ferris, one dated 20 Sept 1916, two are to “Dear George” and the other name is Jack Elliot. Item in the collection relating to Alfred G Ferris No 2156. Zilles Printers was begun by Lewis Zilles in the early 1930s. It was in McKenzie Street Ballarat. His son Jeffrey also became a printer - letterpress, offset and screen printer. The business became Zilles Printers/Graphics and was in Armstrong Street and later Bell Street Ballarat. Darryl James Rowe was a qualified instrument repairer. He specialized in Vintage car instruments on dash boards. These would include speedometers, car clocks, ammeters, oil gauges, ignition switches, temperature gauges, glass tube fuel gauges and dials repaired. He was located in Vickers Street Sebastopol. Documents relate to the years 1984 to 1986.Decal designs various sizes for car dash boards. Stuck in behind all this statistical data are flyers advertising functions and events at the Mission.This ledger outlines the people involved in decision making at the Victorian Seamen's Mission in the late 19th C , the forerunner to Mission to Seafarers and 10 years prior to amalgamation with the group led by Rev'd. Alfred Gurney-Goldsmith. These items are original records from the Warrnambool City Council and contain information on land sales and sub-divisions within the city area for the second half of the 20th century. The ledger contains the names of those involved in the sale and transfer of land and the file cards give illustrative details of the allotments – plans, maps etc. These items are of considerable significance as they are Warrnambool City Council records dealing with land sales and sub-divisions in the second half of the 20th century. They will be useful for research. .1 A metal-bound ledger with a dark red leather cover and pages printed with red and blue lines. There are red alphabetical tabs with gold print attached to the outer edges of the pages. The entries are handwritten in blue ink. .2 A grey metal cabinet, rectangular in shape and rusted on the base. The cabinet has two drawers with handles and these drawers contain file cards. THis collection of cuttings relates to the Warrnambool Steam Packet Company.The Warrnambool Steam Packet Company was established in 1868 when capital was raised with 2000 shares at a value of five pounds each.It was established to provide passenger, accommodation and a large stock and freight service between Warrnambool and Melbourne.. At the time Stephen Henty was operating three steamers along the coast and at the prospect of losing his Warrnambool trade with the establishment of the new Warrnambool company, he sold one of his steamers , the Edina in March 1868. The first five directors elected were F P Stevens, J G Crammond, WW Jamieson, R B Paterson and George Wood. Fares were from one to three pounds and freight was 17 shillings per ton.The steamers connected with coaches from the north of Warrnambool as far as Hamilton. The cuttings record the financial position of the company for the first ten years. This collection of cuttings is valuable as a research item as it documents the development and operation as well as many of the stake holders in one of Warrnambool's earliest shipping companies. The cuttings are from a range of papers including The Warrnambool, Examiner, The Warrnambool Advertiser and the Argus.Ledger book with blue pages which is lacking the cover.
