From its part-time inception in a leased hall, the Committee of the Bundoora Free Kindergarten worked toward obtaining its own premises and expanding the hours of the kinder in order to serve a growing population. Wodonga Waterworks Trust was established in 1897 to control and improve water supply to Wodonga. This included focus on the water quality which had often been a problem. After lobbying the Victorian Department of Water Supply for several years, the first official meeting of the newly constituted Wodonga Waterworks Trust was held on Wednesday 20th October 1897. The Board initially consisted of all Wodonga Shire Councillors, together with Mr Samuel Mason Jr., as the nominee of the Government. Councillor McFarlane was appointed as the first Chairman. This Record Book contains documentation of expenditure of the Wodonga Waterworks Trust from 1908 through to the early 1950s. This includes the official record of payments of £2,897/ 18 /- and £130 to contractor A. A. Hargrave for Erection of the Water Tower. Other payments related to the Water Tower include entries for pumps, gears, pipe laying, pipes, the pump station and related fittings. Construction of the Water Tower was completed in early 1924 and after thorough testing throughout that year, the completed new water system for Wodonga was officially opened on 4th December 1924.This item is significant because it contains financial records related to the construction of one of the oldest and most significant buildings in Wodonga.This large ledger contains both hand written and typed notes documenting financial reports of the Wodonga Water Trust over 40 years. Historical Records of Bendigo Mines' which outlines a project undertaken by Albert and the Historical Society to write a description of each Bendigo mine, showing location, plant, gold gained, depth of shaft etc. The objective was to publish this information in a book for 'educational and historical purpose'. The paper further describes a public meeting to outline the BHS proposal to 'preserve a gold mine with all equipment both surface and underground, a crushing battery, a windlass, a whip and a whim to be stored, as far as possible in correct position. This book gives the history of the Public Record Office, Victoria. It was written by Professor Bill Russell and produced in 2003. The research by Charlie Farrugia that enabled the book to be written was carried out entirely using the Public Record Office archives. The book documents the 1903 beginnings of the Public Record Office from a small collection in the possession of the Melbourne Public Library through to the important 1973 Victorian Public Records Act to the present day institution at North Melbourne. The Melbourne Public Library, the Historical Society of Victoria and the History School of the University of Melbourne were early contributors to the preservation of Victoria’s archives. This book is in the library of the Warrnambool and District Historical Society and is an important reference for us in regard to the history of archival preservation of historical documents in our State. In addition we are a Place of Deposit for historical records that are surplus to the requirements of the Public Record Office of Victoria and that concern more directly the history of Warrnambool and district. Many local Warrnambool and district residents use the facilities at the Public Record Office at North Melbourne and the link between that institution and Warrnambool historical groups is important. Agreement and Subscription Schedule for Drainage of the Garden Gully Reef 1871 2 pieces of lined A3 paper folded to make a 4 page book bound with string. Document handwritten in black ink on blue lined paper with red margins. When closed the book was then folded in 4 to create a pamphlet. The document has extensive notes written in pencil, which are difficult to read. The document also has two water marks. On the cover page is a crest with the initials EE underneath. All other pages have the second which reads R. Barnard 1850. The document makes use of 2 types of seals, a red wax seal and a variety of stamps which indented the paper.
