Edmondson pasteboard railway ticket, No. 14, dated 25 April 1974, for use on a Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society special train from Morwell to Mirboo North and return. Group photo from RTS Wake-Reunion held on Sunday June 5 2005. Liz Seaton organised the event after seeing a post in early May 2005 by another member on a now-defunct website called Schoolfriends / Schoolfriends Reunited, which was very popular before Facebook really got rolling, saying: “Just to let you all know that our old school is being pulled down. You had better get there soon if you want to have a look around before there is nothing left.” Liz notes: A bulk Message was sent from Schoolfriends Reunited to all registered RTS members (about 250) about the Wake-Reunion. The Wake was in the days before the whole area of RTS was fenced off completely from the public. We all met at the front then walked down the driveway, past all the fenced-off vandalised buildings and on to the oval. A very emotional time for all present. After the walk, we finished the day at the Great Ryrie Primary school with afternoon tea, cake (cut by Mr Black, the cleaner) and lots of photos being taken. This is a low resolution group photo. It is hoped to obtain better photos and a video taken by Grant Bickerton on the day - watch this space! This set of 18 photographs were taken at a Corps Day Parade held at the Army Survey Regiment, Bendigo in July 1987. The Parade Commander was CO LTCOL Don Swiney MBE, and the Reviewing Officer was the Colonel Commandant (honorary appointment) of the Survey Corps - COL Clem Sargent (Retd). The Corps Day Parade was held to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the formation of the Royal Australian Survey Corps. These photos comprise inspections of the Regiment’s four squadrons, presentations of the Defence Force Service Medal in recognition of 15 years of efficient remunerated service to SSGT Phil Meagher and SGT Wayne Rothwell; and formal group photos of each of the four Squadrons, Officers, and Warrant Officers/Sergeants. A group of photos of young people at a building believed to be at Somers Camp. The labels identify Frank Holliday, Gwen Smith, Lil Edmonds, Ned Meade, Roy Gilbert and Bill Corrie. Likely to be a very early camp or outing for junior legatees at Somers. In the early years, Legacy organised outings to the property of Legacy founder, Legatee Stan Savige, who had a place in Balnarring close to the beach. Permanent camp buildings were built in 1930. In 1930 Lord Somers (Governor of Victoria) also started a camp at a nearby property and the area was renamed Somers. Legacy Somers Camps continued intermittently at Stan's property until it was decided in 1951 to make other arrangements for holidays. This photo was with a group of photos from around the 1930s from the early days of Legacy, including cricket team, football team, and camps at Balnarring/Somers (saved as 01915 to 01934).Legatee Savige's property at Balnarring became very important for Legacy providing outings and camps for junior legatees.Black and white photo of six youths on a beach.Handwritten 'L R. Photo 1: Circa 1895: Pupils at East Bentleigh State School. Located close to Cnr. of Tucker and Centre Rds, East Bentleigh. Demolished c 1990. Pupil, Elizabeth Ann Jones, (Mrs Kennedy) B.1884- D 1979 is marked with a cross. The Jones and Kennedy families were early settlers in the Moorabbin Shire. Photo 2: Circa 1895: Pupils at East Bentleigh State School with a football. The very poor condition of these "restored" photographs indicates their great age, and deterioration that occurred prior to the Moorabbin Historical Society receiving them. Unfortunately, no further improvement is possible. The original photographs are held on file at the CM.H.S. Box Cottage Museum.2 x black and white Photographs. The photos are in poor condition and have been re stored. The first photo is a group of pupils, standing and sitting in a line having a class photo taken. Due to the deterioration of the photograph, some of the pupils are not clearly seen. The class is a mix of young boys and girls.
