Roy Staughton was a member of the Staughton family who were among the early and prominent pastoralists in the Bacchus Marsh and Melton area. His Father was Samuel Thomas Staughton Snr a member of the Parliament of Victoria for over 20 years and whose properties included Eynesbury near Melton. Samuel Staughton died in 1901. In 1910 while working in New South Wales Roy Staughton contracted Typhoid and died aged only 22. This portrait was first presented to the Bacchus Marsh Branch of the Australian Natives Association a few months after his death by his Mother Mrs. Eliza. The Junction Hotel was built before 1875. It was located on the corner of the Yarra Glen-Eltham and Steels Creek Roads opposite the cemetery. The building was burnt down in August 1935. He served at Gallipoli and on the Western Front but contracted tuberculosis and died at the Australian Military Hospital, Harefield Park in Middlesex. John McLaren Dimmick was the son of Cr William (Roy) Dimmick (1888-1947) and his wife, Myrtle Elvira (nee Monie - 1888-1976). Four page, double sided copy of chapter titled 'The Enclaves' from 'Bendigo, The German Story'. Reference to the Heinz, Schroeder and Helm 'long tunnel' at Diamond Hill, described as the finest example of its kind on Bendigo. The 'German Arches' in the tunnel were constructed by miners who bought their skills and experience from the Harz Mountains. Other prominent Germans were Friedrich Adolph Hermann Schilling, Louis August Samuels and Ruschmeyer's, who owned the Town and Country Hotel, Diamond Hill.

Honora Perkins, the daughter of George and Julia Perkins, was accidentally killed when a cart in which she was travelling home from school was overturned near Linton.Statutory declaration, handwritten on pale-blue lined paper, written (presumably by Samuel Lewers) for George Perkins, who could not read or write. Jane and Samuel Delley emigrated to Australia in 1857. By 1870 they and their young family had settled in the area at the entrance of the Fyans Valley and on the west of Fyans Creek. There they built a home and recognising the needs of passing travellers and timber-getters, they established Delley's Inn, providing food and refreshments to all in need.Timber dwelling with bark roof and two chimneys, one at either side of the house. Selina Ann was the wife of Samuel Bowyer stonemason in Belfast/Port Fairy. Selina arrived with her family, William and Mary Oaff in 30th January 1855 on the ship 'Clara'. She had 6 children. Mullawullah was born c1821, and was thought to be a member of the Burrumbeet Balug of the Wadawurrung people. For some time Mullawullah lived at Ercildoun Station, owned by Sir Samuel Wilson. Mullawullah died at Ballarat Base Hospital on 23 September 1896, and his funeral on 23 September attracted a large crowd.Memorial to Mullwullah in the Ballaarat New Cemetery.
