HMAS Bataan Plaque, Circa 1950s
The Battle of Bataan is famous in history as one of the last stands of American and Filipino soldiers before they were overwhelmed by the Japanese Forces in WW11. The Bataan Death March was named after the province where the infamous March started. Approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troops on Bataan were forced to make an arduous 65 mile march to the prison camps.Wooden plaque with metal shield attached. The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 in to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. Plaque, H.M.S Hydra
Historical significance. HMS Hydra (A144) was a deep ocean hydrographic survey vessel. She was the third of 3 Hecla Class vessel's , laid down on 14th May 1964 at Yarrow Shipbuilders at Scotstoun on the River Clyde and commissioned 4th May 1966. Displacement of 2000 tons (2945 fully loaded).Length 79 Mtrs. Beam 15.4 Mtrs. Draught 4.9 mtrs. Compliment of 12 Officers and 116 crewmen. Saw operations during Falklands War. Decommissioned in 1986 and and sold to the Indonesian Navy still active as of 2019. Wooden plaque with metal plate.White sails surrounding shield over 9 headed dragon over pennant with wording H.M.S. Removed from the school when the property was sold and donated to the Ringwood RSL.Wooden Honour listing the names of Past scholars of Ringwood Primary School who took part in the Great War. The centre panel headed Memoriam lists the names of the 12 pupil who died on service. There are 68 other names listed on the board. School 2997.Details of many of the soldiers listed on the board are recorded in the book " The Anzacs of Maroondah" published in November 2018. -

The centre panel headed “Died on Service” list 14 names. The side panels comprise of 4 columns of names containing 108 in total. The top section includes carving of Gumnuts with a circular panel including a tree and plough. -
