Arthur Henry Miers played for cricket, football and baseball teams in Kew for a number of decades in the first half of the twentieth century. He was born on 22 November 1901, the son of Rodolph Theophilus Miers (1874-1951) and Margaret Frances (Margaretta) Fry (1875-1958). He had two brothers, Rodolph Cecil Miers (1904-80) and Charles Wilfred Miers (1906-88), and a sister Marjorie Elizabeth Miers (1911-84). Arthur Miers died in Kew on 25 January 1966, and after his body was cremated, his body was interred in the Mausoleum of Boroondara General (Kew) Cemetery. Alfred Donald Senior studied Electrical Engineering at the Ballarat Schoo of Mines (SMB) between 1927-33. He worked as an Instructor in Electric Welding at SMB between 1932 and 1967 receiving a certificate of Electrical Engineering, and greatly enjoyed his association with SMB as a student and instructor. Senior was an A. Grade Electrical Mechanic (A.M.I.E.I.s Vic and NSW) and was employed at the SEC Elec. Supply Co of Vic 1927-1970. He became Chief Electrical Inspector for the Mid-Western region.Hand embroidered pocket, framed in timber behind glass. The blazer pocket belonged to A.D. Service Number 6129 A descriptive diary written from pre embarkment on SS Zeelandia from Melbourne (31/05/1917) to Sydney and leaving on 9/06/1917 on the Destroyer flotilla including “Yarra-79”, “Parramatta - 55” and the “Warrego-70” for Malta Station in the Mediterrainean.Details of the personal daily activities onboard Destroyer during The Great War, descriptions include ports of call, other destroyers and warships on way to and including in the Mediterrainean. The social activities with shore leave and detailed description of the vista at different ports including Singapore and via th Suez Canal to the Mediterrainean.Black bound foolscap book with frayed top and bottom edges of cover.
