Clare Roper was a resident of the Kiewa Valley and belonged to the Kiewa Valley Historical Society.Clare Roper collected and collated items of historical interest for Kiewa Valley Historical Society.Grey plastic with clear front cover with 9 clear plastic sleeves/pages. This pole chair was probably made as a display item for the Slab Hut (Orbost Visitor Information Centre).A triangular shaped three-legged pole chair. The chair seat is made from a hessian potato sack - Packed by McDougals of Neerim Vic. The sack is attached by wire. The frame of the chair appears to be made from one solid piece of wood. It is dark brown in colour and has a cross piece at the front and a small strengthening piece on the backm leg.furniture chair

Postcards were available at tourist destinations to promote the resort by enabling visitors to write to friends and family.The Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme hastened the development of Falls Creek as a popular destination for skiers. Roads, buildings including accommodation & chalets, ski clubs, snow vehicles, ski tows etc enabled visitors to live and ski in the snow. When construction of the KHES was completed Falls Creek continued to develop both as a winter and summer resort. Serrated edge colored postcards. 1. On Wednesday 23 Jan 1946 British aircraft carriers HMS Indefatigable, HMS Implacable and HMS Glory escorted by destroyers HMS Tuscan and HMS Armada arrived in Melbourne. Indefatigable berthed at outer west Station Pier, Glory at inner east and Implacable at outer east.
