Artist comment: These three prints (The Groom, The Undertaker's Assistant, The Organist) are part of a series on forebears of Portland. The drawings are taken from people in a collection of photographs belonging to the Johnson Family of Portland. The "Old Lady" and "The Wedding" are part of the same series. It depicts Australia standing with the sun behind her head. At her feet kneel two men, one representing industry (with tools, city buildings and shipping) and the other representing agriculture (with sheep, fruit, silos and an aircraft).
