Warrant Officer Henry Whitty, a native of Tocumwal, enlisted at Cobram 2/1/1915 and was allocated to 13th Light Horse Regiment with Regt No 509. In France he was seconded to HQ 2nd Division and later transferred to Anzac Provost Corps with the Regt No 71. He was Mentioned in Dispatches in 1918 and awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in 1919. Peter James Dodd initially enlisted in 1955-56 and went on to serve in Malaya in 16th Field Ambulance R.A.A.M.C 1957-58. He left the Army and then re enlisted mid 1967 No 217842 and had to go through Recruit Training again. He went on to serve with 17th Construction Sqd RAE on 2 tours of Vietnam from 23.4.1969 - 23.4.1970 and 23.6.1971 - 7.3.1972. HMAS Orion (S 71) was an Oberon class submarine of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). One of six submarines ordered by the RAN during the 1960s, Orion, named after the constellation in a break from ship-naming tradition, was built in Scotland and commissioned in 1977. Orion was decommissioned in 1996, marked for disposal in 2003, and broken up for scrap in 2006. Emil Jackschowsky was born in Insterburg (Prussia then Germany now Russia). He met Mary Schwerkolt aboard the 'Seydlitz' on its way to Australia. He was working as a ships steward. They married in Pittsburg in U.S.A in 1912. While visiting family in Germany he was conscripted. His son Walter was born in 1919. Emil became an American citizen in 1928.
