Ilvaite has acquired its name from Ilva (Latin for Elba) Island, Greece, where Ilvaite is most commonly found. The geological setting in which Ilvaite occurs is through contact with magnetite, zinc and copper ore deposits, along with contact metamorphic deposits and zeolite zones. llvaite crystallizes in the form of black prismatic crystals and columns . This specimen was retrieved from Broken hill, known as the world's richest and largest zinc-lead ore deposit. Because of Ilvaite's often unaesthetic crystal formations compared to other minerals, Ilvaite is uncommon in most rock collections, particularly specimens that are not well formed, such as this one. Ilvaite is also a member of the Sorosilicate subclass of the silicate minerals, which have an unusual basic unit of Si2O7, making Ilvaite a unique mineral. Given that Ilvaite is not commonly found in Australia, it marks a unique contribution to an Australian collection of minerals. This specimen is part of a larger collection of geological and mineral specimens collected from around Australia (and some parts of the world) and donated to the Burke Museum between 1868-1880. A large percentage of these specimens were collected in Victoria as part of the Geological Survey of Victoria that begun in 1852 (in response to the Gold Rush) to study and map the geology of Victoria. Collecting geological specimens was an important part of mapping and understanding the scientific makeup of the earth. The Royal Australian Air Force is the aerial section of the Australian Defence Force and was established in 1921. It succeeded the formation of the Australian Flying Corps in 1912. The Society of Jesus (Jesuits) opened the seminary in 1934. These photographs were part of the advertising for the opening ceremony. The Jesuit Order had a presence on the site from 1934 to 1974 where a house of formation and studies for the Society of Jesus was located (the current Old Loyola building purchased by the College in 2002). Rev. Ronald W. Allardice (1916-1990) was ordained in 1943 and was President of the Methodist Conference in 1968. After ordination Rev. Allardice went to Samoa, where he was Principal of the Piula Theological College. He was later District Chairman for Goulburn Valley. The records of the Ringwood Croquet Club given to Gail Abbe - Archivist for safe - keeping with the request that they may be borrowed should the club require them for reference - 10-Dec-1993.Minutes of Ringwood Croquet Club from 1931 to 1947. Includes formation meeting held on 8th September 1931 at Ringwood Town Hall. The Moyoress, Mrs Honora Blood convened the meeting and occupied the chair. At that stage, the Ringwood Bowling Club had been formed. Men joined the croquet club in years to come. The Constitution was adopted with club colours blue, orange and green at a special meeting on the 6th October 1931 at the Town Hall under the presidency of Honora Blood.

These two minute books document the activities of the Warrnambool and District Amateur Cine Society from its formation in 1954 to 1981. In January 1968 it changed its title to Warrnambool Movie Club. In the 1960s the Society made films of the Florado festivals and in 1960 the Florado film was viewed by more than 3000 people when it was screened at the Liberty Theatre, Warrnambool.These minute books are of considerable interest as the Warrnambool Cine Society was very active in the second half of the 20'th Century. We now hold some of the films they made and these are historically important..1 This is a hard cover ledger with a label on the front cover. In August 1873, four of the crew were killed and the other four injured when the Pilot schooner Rip was overwelmed in heavy seas at the Heads.
