John Kendrick Blogg was a woodcarver and furniture maker who lived and worked in Surrey Hills in the early 1900s. He is particularly well-known for his WW1 memorials and honour boards, the most significant of which is The Shrine in the Surrey Gardens. Others are found at Surrey Hills Primary School and in local churches. There is also one in this collection. It was made for the Surrey Hills Bowling Club, of which Blogg was a keen member. It came to the collection when the club closed in the mid-1990s. Blogg was also known for his poetry. He wrote many poems about roses, WW1 and Surrey Hills. A cutting from from a Melbourne Legacy President's report showing a photo of Legatee Karl Robertson (President of Melbourne Legacy in 1980). It was collected to be a record of a photo of past presidents. Legatee Karl Robertson served in the AIF in World War 2, his original unit was 2/1 Survey Regt. RAA with which he served in the Middle East and he later served with 2/1 Flash Spotting Battery R A A and 3 P W and I Unit in Borneo. He was inducted into Melbourne Legacy in 1954 on the nomination of Legatee Ron Foskett. He stepped down between 1967 and 1972 when he was re-inducted. The article was part of an album of past presidents from 1965 to 1989. The folder included biographical details and obituaries, eulogies and death notices of prominent Legatees. It was collected to be a record of a photo of past presidents. Legatee Ken Green served with the 15th Australian Field Company RAE 2nd AIF during World War 2. He continued with Citizen Military Forces after the war. He attained the rank of Major General with the 3rd Division between 1970-73. He joined Melbourne Legacy in 1959 on the nomination of Legatees Robert Myers and John Standish. The article was part of an album of past presidents from 1965 to 1989. The folder included biographical details and obituaries, eulogies and death notices of prominent Legatees. ATMOEA Vic. Branch (Tramways Union) badge No. 1440. Badge was made on a brass/gold backing with painted enamel on the front. On the central portion of the badge, had the ATMOEA logo, with the words "Vic" with red enamel backing, and on the outer edge of the badge "Aust Tramway & Motor Omnibus Employees Association" with a royal blue background. On back of badge has clip for fitting through an opening on a jacket or coat lapel. On top of back of badge has number stamped in "1440" and bottom words "K. G. Luke / Melb." indicating manufacture. See image files for front and back of badge. .1 - similar badge with a deep varnish finish - a pin on the rear has been ground off.
