Rev. Peter Mackie was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on 13 August 1929. He was educated in Scotland. After spending 2 years in compulsory military service he entered Edinburgh University, graduating Master of Arts. His theological education was at New College, Edinburgh. After qualifying, he spent two years in Leith as assistant to the Rev. David Easton. In 1957 he married Elizabeth Dowling, an Australian. In 1961 Peter Mackie with his wife and 2 children came to Australia. In 1962 he was inducted into the Charge of Bamawm-Lockington, near Echuca. In 1965 he was called to Kew. Linda Blundell had been employed as a social worker to help Broadmeadows families who had fallen into financial difficulties. The Rev. Brace Bateman had established the position within the Maribyrnong Valley Presbytery. Late 19th Century English Oak Roll Top Desk presented to the Rev. Tyssen by the parishioners of the Maldon Anglican Church on 1st March 1905. The story behind the roll top desk. It is made from English oak. There is a plaque on the side that declares it was presented to the Rev. Josiah Tyssen, Vicar of Holy Trinity Church in Maldon, by the parishioners on the 1/3/1905. The desk was donated by Phil Thomas who is the grandson of a Canon in the Church of England who was probably given the desk by Josiah Tyssen after Josiah retired in 1949. Sadly Rev. This is the story told by the Rev. C. Fraser of his two years as a Home Missionary of the Presbyterian Church in the Otway Ranges in 1891-2. The area covered was from Lorne to Peterborough. The booklet includes the names and activities of many settlers of the time and a description of the wreck of the Newfield. This book is of interest to researchers looking for information on the Otway Ranges settlers at the end of the 19th century. It includes names and events and gives an interesting insight into life in the Otway Ranges in the 1890s. This is a small booklet of 44 pages with a red cover and the title printed in black on the front cover. The pages have been stapled together. There are no photographs or illustrations. Bill and Jean married 1953. Bill was ordained in 1956. His appointments included Dunolly, Mornington, West & East Bentleigh, Moonee Ponds, Mt Waverley and Noble Park. In between his appointments at Bentleigh and Moonee Ponds Bill lived in Milan, where he ministered to both Italian and English speaking Congregations. Rev William Butters (1810 - 1887). Born Hibbaldstone, Lincolnshire on 24 January 1810. Entered the Wesleyan ministry in 1833 and sent as a missionary to Van Dieman's Land. Worked with convicts at Port Arthur, then served at Hobart, Ross and Launceston. In 1850 he was appointed to Melbourne. His health failed during the unprecedented difficulties initiated by the discovery of gold in 1851. Appointed to Adelaide 1855 - 1862. returned to Victoria in 1862, but his health broke down completely and he returned to England in 1863 and became a supernumerary. A founder of the Wesleyan Mission Carlton. President of the Australasian Conference in 1858.
