Was the building of Morrissey Butchers established in 186512.5cm x 20cm black and white photograph of 61-63 Sydney Street Kilmore. The building look to have been separated into two stores, the left storefront looks original and the right storefront look to have been retrofitted. The roof of the building has a decretive trim and a arch which says "B.M Morrissey 1865 Established". This calls to the building original owners which used the building as a Butchers. The retrofitted side of the building was being used as a Butchers at the time of the photograph, E & G Fanger Butcher.Written on the back: 112/58 B. The last train to Beech Forest ran on 30 June, 1962. The train had a particularly motley look to it; 180 passengers were loaded into NU goods vans which had been hastily fitted out with temporary seats and tarpaulin roofing. The train was hauled by the dilapidated G42 locomotive, kept alive through patch-up repairs and cannibalised G41 parts, which intending travellers looked at with some trepidation. The train made it without mishap. When it returned to Colac on that cold, gloomy June day it signalled the end of narrow gauge operations in the Otway Ranges.B/W. Typically in Kew, this included teams in lawn bowls, tennis and croquet. The Kew Bowling Club was formed in 1880 while the privately owned Auburn Heights Recreation Club was opened in 1904. By 1998, the two Clubs decided to amalgamate at the Auburn Heights site in Barkers Road, forming the Kew Heights Sports Club. The combined club was itself taken over by the Melbourne Cricket Club in 2012 becoming MCC Kew Sports Club. In 2017 MCC Kew closed and its landholding was subsequently sold to Carey Baptist Grammar School. Both the Kew and Auburn Heights Clubs assembled important collections. These historically significant and large collections were donated to the Society in 2020.
