This is a pattern for the stove front for the oat kiln at the mill.Rectangular piece of wood, broken at one end with two full cutouts and part of third. One, and the part of another cut-out is high arches. Frame, missing in places, running along outer rim and along cut-outs. Two rows of nails run down between arches holding braces in palce on back.

Augers were used in processing the grain, however this wooden auger is possibly a pattern for a cast metal auger.A long piece of hexagonal wood with a descending spiral of square wooden blades. On the top it has a circular piece of wood

Used to make cast for the metal ring gear for the water wheel which powered the Mill.Slightly arched wooden pattern with wooden ridges along the edge. Three square metal plates with a hole in the centre, bolted on with four bolts. Ten pentagin pieces of wood attached to the face.

Used as pattern to cast crown wheel of drive on water wheel. Actual drive has since been sold, only mold remainsCircular wooden pattern, raised centre circular area surrounded by four wide, flat spokes at regular intervals (the interim spaces being cut out with rounded corners) which are in turn surrounded by a rim which tapers back from the centre of the piece and has fixed to it regularly interleaved slats. Slats of protruding oblongs tapered from attachment to top and also central end to outer point. Light coloured wood 1 & 2 are Broken off pieces of back.

This is a bag trolley that was used to transport large bags of grain or other items at the mill.Wooden frame of trolley, with vertical handles with three stabilising cross bars. Base of trolley has a curved metal part. This mounted on two small metal wheels.

Used to drive the belt for machines.A long shaft with five wheels of varying height attached to it. The largest wheel has six spokes, the second to last in size has five curved spokes. One wheel is made of hard rubber. The shaft extends beyond the largest wheel, where it has a big bolt. The shaft extends an inch or two beyond the wheel at the other end. All wheels are bolted on.

On December 1, 2000 it was finally announced that the railway line would be moved away from the centre of the Wodonga CBD after many years of lobbying. Since its opening in 1873 the railway line had crossed High Street, originally called Sydney Road. The railway had bisected the city with level crossing gates frequently stopping the flow of traffic as trains passed through. The Wodonga Rail Bypass project moved Wodonga station from the original central location to a position on a new line on the northern edge of the town. Not only did this release land in the middle of the city for commercial and public use, but also eliminated 10 level crossings. The project actually commenced in 2008 with the last passenger train passing through Wodonga on 8 November 2008. On 23 July 2010, the new rail bypass was opened, and the original line through Wodonga closed. It was donated to the Wodonga Historical Society by Fred Rochow, a railwayman who spent many years based in Wodonga. He joined the Victorian Railways on 17th June l947 and retired in 1988. For some time, he was a member of the Australian Federated Union of Locomotive Enginemen and served a term as a member of the Trades Hall Council. He had an extensive knowledge of the struggles that took place to achieve better conditions for railway workers. Fred worked for many years as a fireman and then worked his way up the ranks to driver, experiencing many changes from the days of steam locomotives through to diesel trains, locomotives and even the modern XPT train. He worked throughout Victoria at different stages of his career, with his final working years focused on the northeast of Victoria and the Albury to Melbourne line. After his retirement, Fred continued to share his love of steam miniature trains with the community.This collection has local and statewide significance as it captures images of trains, locomotives and personnel who operated the railway services in Wodonga and throughout Northeast Victoria. The Flying Scotsman Pacific 4-6-2, perhaps one of the most iconic steam locomotives in the world, visited Australia in 1988-89 for a series of events associated with the country’s bicentennial celebrations. As part of the Bicentennial celebrations locomotives began to arrive in Melbourne for the AusSteam 88 exhibition from 14 October. A planned parallel run south of Seymour with NSW locomotives 3112 and 1210 and Victorian Railways J515 had to be abandoned due to late running by the NSW locomotives. A parallel run did take place on Sunday 16 October when VR R761 and NSW 3801 ran from Wodonga to Melbourne. The Spirit of Progress was the premier express passenger train on the Victorian Railways in Australia, running from Melbourne to the New South Wales border at Albury, and later through to Sydney. From its introduction in November 1937 until April 1962 the train service ran on 1,600 mm (5 ft 3 in) broad gauge line from Melbourne's Spencer Street station to Albury, on the New South Wales / Victorian border, where passengers changed to a New South Wales Government Railways train (the Melbourne Limited Express). Following the completion of the standard gauge line between Melbourne and Albury in April 1962 the Spirit of Progress was extended to Sydney. With declining passenger numbers it was decided to combine the Spirit of Progress and Southern Aurora into one train, the Sydney/Melbourne Express. The Spirit of Progress ran for the last time on 2 August 1986. Photocopy of an article written by Ian Anderson (past president of Melbourne Legacy) for the Victorian Historical Magazine, 149th issue, August 1967, which was taken from his address to the Society on Tuesday 23 May 1967. It describes the founding of Legacy and the role of founding legatees. It summarises the work Legacy was doing with finding work for returned servicemen, and then focusing more on looking after the needs of war widows and their children.
