Hemley George & Eliza nee Chandler. Eliza was born in 1838 in Bedfordshire England and died in 1914 aged 76. Liza Chandler married George Hemley on 4th Jan. 1854 in Shoreditch Middlesex. George was born in 1818 in Bedfordshire, England and died in 1887 aged 69 and buried in Stawell Cemetery. Photo taken by G. Woods Main St, Stawell. Photograph of Legacy widows gathered around a table upon which one widow is dancing barefoot. It is probably a widows club meeting. Widows would meet regularly and it was an important social outlet for them. The newspaper article appeared in The Age on 3 March 1989. The Victorian-era architect George Wharton, the initial surveyor of Kew. In 1866, he designed and had built Fernhurst in Studley Park, the house a prominent landmark. He resided there until his death, aged 69, on 26 November 1891. He was buried on 27 November in Grave 1520, Church of England Compartment B, Boroondara General Cemetery. These pennies belonged to Private Henry JONES VX48340 who enlisted at Wangaratta on 25th July 1940 and served with the 2/23rd Battalion 2nd A.I.F. He was twice wounded and after being wounded at Tobruk spent time in hospital in Alexandria.
