Memento - comprising a section or short length of Melbourne cable tram cable contained or mounted within two cast brass sections as a gift recording service to the MMTB Board as a Member - presented to Cr. Burnett Gray. Stamped at either end of the object with his name and "MMTB Member" Vic. Parliamentary Website gives details of Cr. Gray, Vic MP - though does not list being a MMTB Board Member. MP for St Kilda 1927 to 1932, Cr for St Kilda 1920 to 1948 - see http://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/re-member/details/1103-gray-alfred-charles-burnett. MMTB Annual Reports: Appointed 1936 (first appearance), until 1954, when the size of the Board was reduced - Order in Council 25/5/1954. This booklet contains the certificates gained by Alfred Brauer in connection with a medical course undertaken at the University of Melbourne (M.B. and B.S). The dates range from 1919 to 1926. Dr Alfred Brauer was a well-known general practitioner in Warrnambool from 1927 to 1972. He was an honorary medical officer at the Warrnambool Hospital and was prominent in sporting and community activities in the city. The former Warrnambool Technical School was re-named Brauer College in 1993 to mark his long association with local education.This set of certificates is an important memento of Dr Alfred Brauer who was a well-known doctor in Warrnambool for 45 years.This is a booklet or folder with a black cover with gold-coloured trimmings and printing. Coloured postcard of the view from Little Collins St looking north along Elizabeth St. Has a northbound cable tram and several horse-drawn wagons in the view. In the view are the GPO, Newing's Artists materials, Royal Arcade, and Turner's bicycles. The letter is dated 8/12 from an Eck in Toorak addressed to Doris Ettelson in Ballarat. The stamp used was introduced in 1913 by the Commonwealth Government as the first National stamp - see reference. Card published by C T Melbourne.
