Light colour wood, insert lined with green felt. Lid in 2 sections and glued to a surrounding edge. Opaque Red glass lamp base and clear glass top. Dark metal top on base which houses the base for the top and the opening for the wick to raised and lowered by the round wheel also on this metal base. Grecian urn shaped base. Black tape around bottom edge of base, also strips of black tape on inside bottom of base. Perhaps to assist with repairs where base is damaged

Heart shaped ashtray carved with a cigarette holder in one edge. Monkey is cream in colour, carved with holes to hold spare cigarettes. Monkey attaches with a spike on it's bottom to the ashtray corner. Ricordo Pirgionero = record of my imprisonment / memory of a prisoner is carved on the top and the bottom of the ashtray

Certificate given to Thomas Flanagan for his 23 years of service and residency in Tatura. Signed by A3 size certificate, cream coloured paper with a brown border 2 cm in from the edge. Inside the border are flowers surrounding an of white space which has a letter of thanks printed in black ink. Across the top of the white space is a curved ribbon which has "Thomas Flanagan Esq. JP" printed in fancy writing. The certificate has a brown mount around it and then framed in a brown wooden frame with glass.
