Has a strong association with the story of the BTPS in its first four years, developing the Museum, acquiring additional trams and a brief history of the SEC trams in Ballarat.Newspaper clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, dated 10/1978, titled "Ballarat's tourist tramway carries 100,000th passenger". Printed in a "Courier Tourist" Section, gives details of the 100,000th passenger, BTPS history, that of the trams in Ballarat, closure. On the rear of the sheet continues story and gives details of the then BTPS fleet (14, 26, 27 & 28, 48 and 40). Notes that the BTPS had by then acquired No. 39, W3 661, W4 671, 33 and 11, 121, 35 and X1 463. Features photos of a bus and single truck trams together at Grenville St, a horse tram arriving at Grenville St and a photo of the BTPS depot with No. 40, 27 and 28 on the depot fan. This notebook has handwritten notes commenced in 1887 by Duncan McColl. The notes include lessons on the first 12 chapters of the Acts of the Apostles for the Grasmere Bible Class, other religious passages that appear to be copied from outside sources and some personal notes regarding McColl's potato growing and the medicine he is taking. The Grasmere Bible Class was perhaps associated with St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Grasmere where a Sunday School had been established in 1887. Research needs to be undertaken regarding further information on Duncan McColl.This notebook is of interest as an example of the interest in religion by some of the residents of Warrnambool and district in the late 19th century. This is a small notebook with a black cover. There is a postage stamp on the inside front cover. The pages have printed blue and red lines originally intended for the keeping of accounts. Letter, Set of two letters, carbon copy, typed by Mr Lewis Russell to Mr. R. A. Spencer while on tour with Mr Bell in 1938. See Reg Item 934 for the report. The two letters give the nitty gritty of the going-on's at the time in the MMTB. .1 - three quarto sheets, stapled in the top left hand corner, dated Monday 2 May, outlining activities at home. The main point is a O'Meara - Eakins appeal which involved extensive legal advice about titles, positions etc. Mr O'Meara title noted as chief draftsman. Notes names of various legal figures such as Mr. Herring KC. Also notes Cr. Gray, Cr. Gorman, Mr. Bell (Jnr?), Mr Cass. Appears that Mr. McGlashan "has been dipping his beak into the flowing bowl" and had been dismissed. Appears he was collecting the fees from the Wattle Park Golf course. Letter continuation of 4 May - appeals still going on, the death of Mr Monsbourgh and dismissal of Mr. Ellis and a 3rd sheet dated 9th May. Reports on drawing up a lease for a Mr. Better, snow and some personal family matters? .2 - letter dated 3/8/1938 Has notes re Mr O'Connor and the benefit society, retiring gratuity, costs, Mr Guice, Mr Richardson. These medals were issued by the Australian Government to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth 11 of England in 1953.These medals are of minor interest as ones issued in 1953 to celebrate he Coronation of Queen Elizabeth 11 of England. They have no known local significance. These are ten medals with lettering and the Coat of Arms of Australia on one side and an image of Queen Elizabeth 11 and lettering on the other side. This is the 3rd document following on from Cat No's 8255 & 8256. The letter is addressed to Mr J.K. Barnes Secretary Bendigo RSL Sub Branch. The letter confirms the points made at a meeting between Mr Barton City of Bendigo and the Bendigo RSL regarding the Restoration of the Bendigo Cenotaph. It outlines the following points; 1. Materials to be used. 2. Faults. 3. location. 4. Restoration. 5. Time of construction. 6. Work progress. 7. Chemical preservation. The foolscap page supplied to Council by the RSL outlines the timeline of the Cenotaph coming into being from Wednesday 6th May 1953 the first meeting to the 2nd of June 1957 when Sir George Lansell officially gave the Cenotaph to the Citizens of Bendigo.Document 3 pages stapled together.
