This was donated by Pte Lindsay Arnold Burton (3786890) who served in the Australian Army .As a National Service he served with the Royal Australian Infantry Corps. He served in Vietnam with 1 Australian Reinforcement Unit from Jan 1967 to Feb 1967, 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment from Feb 1967 to May 1967 and the 2nd Battalion , The Royal Australian Regiment from May 1967 to Aug 1967.A brown coloured cardboard cover with dark brown material binding on the left hand side. The details of the manual is in black ink. Top right hand corner reads 7610-66-014-2062. On front cover is large letter "G" and words "To be returned to the inspectors office after completion of Training as Motorman" First four pages has index and covers: (A) Tramcar Equipment - electrical - items or clauses 1 to 28 (B) Location of Faults - items 29 - 41 (C) Tramcar Braking - items 42 to 59 (D) Failure of the Mechanical Brakes - items 60 to 67 (E) Tramcar Emergency Braking (Accident Prevention) - items 68 - 72 (F) Automatic Electric Signals - items 73 - 82 - gives locations of signals. (G) General Instructions - items 83 to 98. See condition notes - not in the best condition - needs careful handling. 3486.4 - ditto - similar to above, but 34 pages through to instruction 104. Added section (F) after (E) - "Automatic Braking - clauses 72 - 79, possibly an earlier version of above when trams were fitted with dead man controls. Held within a cardboard folder with a metal binder. Cover has been covered with brown paper and adhesive tape, but only remains on the inside of the cover. Item added 3/10/2007. A yellow coloured front cover with black information. Near the top reads Australian Air Publication 7531.078-3. Above the RAAF insignia reads Royal Australia Aor Force with the rest of the details of the manula under the insignie. There s a rubber stamp on the cover which reads R.A.A.F. Zilles Printers was begun by Lewis Zilles in the early 1930s. It was in McKenzie Street Ballarat. His son Jeffrey also became a printer - letterpress, offset and screen printer. The business became Zilles Printers/Graphics and was in Armstrong Street and later Bell Street Ballarat. H F Deutscher Pty Ltd were the manufacturers of lawn mowers. They were at 711 Creswick Road, Ballarat but now are at 731 Creswick Road Wendouree. They have been making petrol mowers since the 1950s. Their history began when a golf club asked them to build a mower that was able to cut long grass. Since then they have produced many different models of hand and ride-on mowers.A4 booklet - 10 pages.
