Sarah Ann Course nee Bullen was born in 1834. Married in 1852 at the age of 18. Emigrated in 1856. Husband drove coaches to the goldfields prior to farming at Forest hill. Alfred Ernest Edwards was born 29/12/1903 in Mitcham and died 4/7/1967 at Forest Hill. he was a kiln worker at Geal's Pottery, Nunawading. Doris Gwendoline was born in 1905 at Surrey Hills and died on 15/3/1996 in a Healesville nursing home. She was 91. When Doris two her father died. Her mother remarried (Finger) and she had two step-sisters. Archie McArthur grew flowers and vegetables and sold them from his house in Canterbury Road, Forest Hill. Later owners used the property as a restaurant and plant nursery. The Rooks family emigrated from England in 1857. Abraham Rooks came to Forest Hill in 1862 and leased 79 acres. After 10 years of successful farming he owned the land. Abraham Rooks held the first church meetings in his home and in 1865 was one of the trustees to receive a crown grant to erect a chapel. In 1970 a school was attached to the chapel. Archibold McArthur originally owned 6 acres and produced flowers which were sold at the Victoria Market, and vegetables which were sold at a roadside stall outside his property in Canterbury Road , Forest Hill.Eastside Plants established a plant nursery as p[art of the property in 1979 and later added 'Archies Cafe' in 1987.
