Tramcar component - possibly locking key - made from two pieces of cut steel and welded together and finished. A known unknown! Kym Smith advised - "11/6/2020 - It looks familiar, but I can’t recall exactly. I think is used as a locking pin to hold an internal panel in place, possibly the internal panels/frames that are on the interior side of the sliding doors, with the pin going through the top sill into the internal frame?" and 13/6 " I remember somewhere seeing a panel that has pins in the bottom that locate in holes in the floor, then the panel is pushed into place and the securing/locking pin used to hold it in place, with the panel having a square saddle that the pin goes through. This is a licence issued to Leslie Palmer in 1918. It gives him authority to operate a motor boat across the banks of the Hopkins River near the mouth and to carry passengers. As there is a bridge at the mouth of the river it is assumed that this motor boat was used to go across the river from a private house, making it more convenient than going by road to cross the bridge. It was, and still is, a common practice to use boats to cross the river from private homes built along the banks of the Hopkins River.This is a significant item as it is an original certificate and is interesting because the licence was a restricted one, for use only in crossing the Hopkins River. This is a paper licence issued by the Marine Board of Victoria in 1918. The certificate has printed material and entries written in black ink. This is one pair of 1938 USA Pattern gaiters. They are made of canvas and have a webbing strap that goes under the boot. The buckle fitting is black painted steel. One edge of the gaiter has black printed etelets, the other edge has black metal hoops, There is a cotton bootlace tied to the gaiter. The colour is jungle green.
