Young Christian Workers (YCW Australia) Archive and Research Centre
YCW Flag, KAJ Flanders, 1957
This canvas pennant was produced by the KAJ Falnders and given to participants on the 'pilgrimage' to Rome in 1957, for the first gathering of the International Young Christian Workers. YCWs from various nations exchanged pennants in Rome, gathered as souvenirs of the event. This is a rare piece, collected by Bill Armstrong, AO who was one of the young workers who visited Rome in 1957. When situated along side the pennants of other participating nations, it symbolises the internationalism of the YCW movement.Orange, Red and White Small Pennant featuring a picture of the World marking with the YCW flag Rome. In the centre of the pennant are the letters KAJ and on the edges of the pennant it reads: 'Internationale Romebedevaart'. In the tip of the Pennant are the letters FIDRA. On the reverse side in the centre are the letters VKAJ. -

Tool - Measuring Tool, Stanley, Wooden Marking Gauge, 1900-1950
Marking gauge. Manufactured by Stanley. A marking gauge, also known as a scratch gauge, is used in woodworking and metalworking to mark out lines for cutting or other operations. The purpose of the gauge is to scribe a line parallel to a reference edge or surface. The gauge consists of a beam, a headstock, and a scribing or marking implement, typically a pin, knife, pen or wheel. The headstock slides along the beam, and is locked in place by various means: a locking screw, cam lever, or a wedge.Manufacturer's namemarking gauge, stanley -- tool manufacturer, measuring tools -

Button, Uniform button
It is presumed that this is an authentic relic from a very significant shipwreck in Tasmania. It was bought at a museum in King Island. The Cataraqui, carrying British emigrants, was wrecked on King Island in 1845 with the loss of over 400 lives. The British Parliamentary and general public outcry following this disaster resulted in the establishment of the lighthouse at Cape Otway in 1848 (and indirectly the establishment of Warrnbambool in 1847)This button, listed as a uniform button, is of some interest as a small relic of the shipwreck, Cataraqui. This wreck has a connection to the establishment of the Cape Otway lighthouse and to Warrnambool’s history as Superintendent Charles LaTrobe came to the Warrnambool district several times in an effort to find the best route to the Cape Otway area. While doing so he became familiar with the Warrnambool area and the need to establish a new settlement at Warrnambool. This is a small metal button covered with verdigris, with any writing or markings obliterated. A small piece is missing at the edge. cataraqui shipwreck, warrnambool, superintendent charles latrobe, button -

Medallion, Presbyterian Ladies' College Centenary Medallion 1875-1975, 1975
Round centenary medallion depicting two naked figures. On the reverse side are the markings P.L.C. 1875-1975This medallion has been designed by Michael Meszaros to commemorate The Centenary of The Presbyterian Ladies' College, Melbourne. The design symbolises the centenary by depicting it as a time when one looks both back at the past and forward to the future. This is illustrated in the medallion by a girl picking the fruit of the old gnarled tree - the benefits of the past, and another planting new seedlings - the plans for the future.medallion, centenary, presbyterian, ladies', college
