The Melbourne Beefsteak Club, Australia’s oldest food society, was founded in May 1886. Members were from business, professional and academic circles. The Club had some arcane rituals, with Masters and Writers of the Records. This letter from The Recorder is addressed to Brother Boyd and includes a list of 26 members and lists of past Writers of the Records and Masters from 1964-1966, and list of Writers of the Records and Masters for the next two years 1967-1968. These roles change each month. Boyd was scheduled to be Writer in March 1968.Letter plus two pages with list of members and Writers of the Records and Masters. -

Set of tickets collected by Ray Hall, possibly in his days as a MMTB crew member - conductor? - all have starting numbers in "01", except for two with 6 numerals the same. Shows MMTB style tickets of the time - 1966/67?Set of 11mixed Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board tickets with Ray Hall's papers. May have come from time he worked for the MMTB - all decimal. Tickets have been used . Tickets have not been individually numbered with the Registration Number, but can be identified by their ticket number and denomination. Personal Papers titled "Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board General Scheme": File comprises of: 1. Typed document noting the MMTB Minute of the Board meetings of 30/11/1922, 24/5/1923 and 26/7/1923 approving the General Scheme be forwarded to the Minister and the Parliamentary Standing Committee and changes to resolve crossing the Railway at Brighton Station. 2 - Printed document - 1923 - Report - 8 pages - The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways - General Scheme for Tramways for Metropolis - printed 24/7/1923. Has stapled to the document a pink cover sheet. Gives details of the committee, the committee report, comments on the Board's financial position, the debate between tramways or railways, recommendations and views of the Railways Commissioners. Attached to the report is the MMTB 30 page duplicated document giving the Board's proposals. See Reg Item 2089 for actual drawings referred to. Manuscript - 29 quarto sheets carbon copy - article for publication possibly about the history of the Melbourne cable tram system. Notes cover - the background of history of city transport, the suburban councils, the formation of the MTOC, the MTT - list the various council representatives, development of the cable system, Mr. George Duncan, Dunedin, construction works, maintenance, finances, funding, contractors, construction timing, list of lines and opening dates, winding houses, the various lines, construction issues with drainage, cable lengths, horse trams. The conversion of cable trams, annual returns for 1886 to 1935. Reverend Frank Oliver served as Chaplain at the Mission to Seafarers Victoria from 1930 - 1960. A gift of £20,000 for the rebuilding of the Port Melbourne institute, which was old and dilapidated, was announced at the conference. Black and white photograph mounted on cardboard with border detail on the front. The photograph is of eleven men, five standing behind six seated. Nine of the men are wearing clerical collars and two are in suit and ties.
