Alf Dorey took up LOTs 6 and 7 in Section 2 . He lived in a house of split timbers on the slope west of where 'The Welkin' was built. Michael Turner born in 1934 is a British painter and illustrator specialising in motoring and aviation paintings. After leaving school he attended Art College followed by National Service with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers for 2 years. On leaving National Service he worked with a London advertising studio before turning freelance in1957. The Bristol Blenheim depicted in the painting was a British light bomber used extensively for 2 years of the Second World War. It was powered by a pair of Bristol Mercury V111 air cooled radial engines capable of developing 860 bhp. armament was a combination of Vickers, Browning and Lewis machine guns in .303 ( 7.7mm ). A 1000lb (450kg ) could be carried in the internal bomb bay in the centre section of the fuselage. The 114 Squadron was a Squadron of the British Royal Air Force formed in India during the First World War. From shadows is late in the afternoon. Date of photo taken based on the series of photos received from the ARHS as being during Oct. and Dec. 1965. On Kodak paper. W3's were not based or attached to Essendon and would thus appear to be a visiting tram, but in service due to the presence of a run number. Two (2) No. or one set of - Pressed metal plates with corners trimmed, top section partly folded with two slotted holes, sides folded to give strengthening to the plate, painted with a yellow background and the letter "M" and numbers "31" painted in black, to give a Run Number Plate for Malvern Depot No. 31. Painted with the same detail on either side of the plate. Used by Malvern Depot until they were phased out and replaced with the Automatic Vehicle Monitoring system c1990. Cypriot Bichrome Ware from Cypro-Geometric PeriodThe interior is painted with a black band and sets of concentric lines. The rim is painted to twin pierced lug handles. Although opened by the Church of England in 1857, Huntly was not recognised as beginning until 1860 when it began to receive government funding. In 1862 it became known as a Common School. In the 1870's it was partly destroyed in a wind storm and a brick building was built to replace it. It became a State School between 1873 and 1878 and was renamed Huntly Primary School in 1970.Newspaper clipping, dated 11.6.66: 'Double Seater' article shows image and describes a buggy that was in the procession for the Huntly Primary School celebrations. Mr. Fiedler, a former student at the school, was the driver. He was in charge of a cab that operated on the Huntly to Bendigo run, for many years.
