Formerly Barr's drapery shop, this building was the home of Bob Albert at the time the photograph was taken. It is still in use as a private home and has been considerably restored. In 1900 this shop was a stationer's and newsagency owned by George Smith. It was then owned by Annie Nicholls (afterwards Annie Brown), and later by Ruby and John Sandow. Their daughter Kitty married Reg Jennings and the shop became known as "Jennings' Milk Bar". The shop evolved into a grocery/general store/confectioners. Built 1860 as Bank of New South Wales. Sold 1903 to Mr Lewers (son of Samuel Lewers, first manager of the bank in Linton). Operated as antique shop by Mrs Surman 1950s-1981. Built early 1860 as a bakery by Mr Winstanley. James Nicol bought the bakery late 1860s - operated as a bakery until 1972, Ray Wilson being the last baker. Max Standish purchased the building and opened an antique shop 1973-1983. This garage was on the site of the Ball family's blacksmith's workshop. In 2017 parts of the building are still on the site, although in a very dilapidated condition.Photograph copied from original of a petrol station/mechanic's workshop. At the time the photograph was taken the workshop was owned by John and Alice (Jill) Dumbrell. The date the photograph was taken is unknown.
