View ...Frederick Henry Stevens (1861 - 22/1/1931) Frederick was the son of Thomas and Margaret Wiseman. He was a cooper at the Kent Brewery Company in Bendigo. He was an early member of the City Fire Brigade and was their lieutenant in 1886 when the brigade presented him with a crockery set to mark the occasion of his recent marriage to Elizabeth Jane Hills. He competed successfully in various fire brigade competitions. When he died at the age of 69 he was living in Northcote.Two photographs of F. H. Stevens in uniform of the Bendigo Fire Squad, undated. No records found of a marriage for Roy, Doris or Madge. Michael P. Kelly was born in Galway, Ireland and died in 1929 aged 76. He had been in Victoria for 59 years. For 50 years he had been closely associated with Bendigo mining companies, and was a leading investor. He joined the Bendigo Stock Exchange in 1880, had been chairman of the exchange multiple times. Dark cream coloured dress with bodice and gathered waltz length skirt. Back opening on bodice with six hooks and eyes. Back opening on skirt with two hooks and eyes at waist. Bodice lined with ivory coloured cotton. Short puffed sleeves. Frill around bottom of skirt is edged with purple trim top and bottom. Frill around neck front and back. Decorative purple loops on sleeves and around neckline. Dress worn with a decorative overskirt, (see 11400.124), hand made. 1860's dress worn in 1920 by Ava Jane Hall, granddaughter of W.Lansell. Photocopy of reverse inscription, dated Bendigo Oct 1st 1926, reads - ' This picture represents an old Cobb & Co's coach. It is over sixty years old, and ran from Castlemaine to Swan Hill in the old coaching days, and afterwards ran from Bendigo to Inglewood. It was owned by Mr Shadbolt, and was purchased from him by Mr Bannerman of Huntly near Bendigo, who had the undercarriage taken off and the body placed on a motor chassis. It now runs between Bendigo and Huntly as a daily motor transport. It has never been painted since it was made.' See Research.
