He struck his head when a car pulled out in front of him at Exhibition Street. Risson said it was worst accident he had seen in 40 years. Appoints 5 man inquiry committee Tram W2 304 (City Route 6) was crossing Flinders Street when it was hit by tram W2 559 (Spencer St route 28) which failed to stop at the red light. The Bank was replaced by a more modern looking building during the 1970's. In the background is the ES&A bank on the corner. Jane Nigro advised 9/9/2020: "1907 Photo of the E. S. & A. Bank on the corner of High Street and Glenferrie Road, Malvern. In 1885 land on corner of Glenferrie Road & High St. (40' x 150') was purchased by E.S. & A. Bank. A condition of sale was that the bank erect on the land a 'substantial brick building to be used as a branch bank', within 24 months. The E.S. & A. Bank, single-storey four roomed brick, was built in 1888. The first manager was Frederick Leonard. Brown cloth covered bound book, 124 pages, plus printed end sheets used in covers, titled "MMTB Electric Tramways and Motor Omnibuses Sections and Fares", dated September 1958, authorised by B. H. Misson Traffic Manger. Book consists of four sections, bound with sewn cloth binding on the outside with glued white paper end covers. September 1958, Details the various section stages and fares for each tram and bus route, General instructions, concession fares and has photos or drawings of the various special tickets, eg passes or prepaid tickets. Copy 1 - page 40 correction has been glued in upside down as has been "28 Change" on page 123. Copy 2 - page 40 - fares corrected by hand, "28 Change" glue in correctly. Photograph of vacant tramcar wash road facility, presumably at Kew Depot. Three W2 class trams are partially shown on adjacent roads, one displaying route number 47 (City to Kew Depot). Several semi-circular windows are shown high on the rear wall. Along both sides of the vacant road are narrow 40 cm wide platforms approx 60 cms above the car shed floor with safety rails attached. An open pit sits between the two platforms. A water hose pipe appears in the foreground and all surfaces appear wet. With a tram was positioned between these platforms, part of the platform could be swung across the front of the tram to facilitate its washing.
