The weatherboard building was one of three erected in the former Bulla Primary School grounds. The original school building was constructed from bluestone as was the case with many other buildings in the district. The photograph was taken in 1994 shortly after the improvements to the garden and play are at Bulla Primary School had been completed. In the early 1990s a number of upgrades and improvements were made to the buildings and the playground at the Bulla Primary School. The class photograph was taken at the Bulla State School No. 46 in 1930. Two children have been identified. They are John Daniel, seated in the front row, second from the left. Vincent Daniel is standing, first on the left in the back row. The Daniel family were store holders in the Bulla township. Over the years a teacher's residence and another larger weatherboard classroom were added to the original bluestone building. The school functioned for over 100 years from the late 1870s until 2006 when it was closed and is now a private house.The Bulla State School was one of the oldest schools in the district and served the children from surrounding areas. The Bulla Sports Ground, along with the clubrooms and community centre were updated in 1990. Prior to then they were used for various district sporting events but over the years they were becoming run down. They are sited in Green Street. The two little girls were in Prep grade at Bulla Primary School c 1992/93. The building was one of the classrooms brought to the Bulla Primary School in the early 1990s to accommodate the increased school enrolments. These rooms were easily transportable and were uses extensively in Victorian Government schools from the early 1950s onwards to cope with growing school attendances. Bulla Primary School held a pets day at the school in 1988 and the students, teachers and parents along with their pets were invited to participate. The bridge in the photograph is the bluestone bridge at Bulla which spans the Deep Creek, a tributary of the Maribyrnong River. It was built in 1869 and replaced a ford crossing which was built further downstream. Many of the buildings and structures in the area were built from bluestone which is in abundance throughout this volcanic area.This bridge is one of many similar structures built across Western Victoria where the bluestone volcanic rock was found in abundance.A coloured close - up photograph of a four-arched blue stone bridge spanning a waterway. The students from the former Bulla Primary School were enjoying an excursion to a nearby nature reserve to study some of the insect life to be found in the waterway and the native plants in that environment. This photo came from an album of photos associated with the Grant Family of Bulla. The album was in poor condition and so the photos were removed from it for archival storage. They were numbered in the order they appeareed in the album. Most of the photos were of the creek area in Bulla; a few contained figures. The former bluestone Bulla Shire Hall building was constructed in 1867 and remained the centre of local government until the early 20th century when the administration was moved to Sunbury. In the 1990's the Alister Clark Rose Garden was established in the surrounding grounds. The garden is open to the public all the year round. The men in the photograph are former councillors and they are at an ordinary meeting of the Shire of Bulla council, which took place on 15th July 1974 at the Old Shire Offices in Bulla. Council usually met at the Council Offices in Sunbury but there were times when they met at the Old Shire Offices in Bulla. The aerial photograph shows the market garden situated on the river bend and flat of the Deep Creek at Bulla. In the 19th Century a hotel occupied the site. After World War II the property was owned by the Hughes family, who grew flowers. The church in the image is the former St. Michaels Catholic Church that was on Sunbury Road in the small Bulla township. After holding religious services at the Daniel property 'Narbonne' at Oaklands Junction until 1876, the permanent church building opened 0n 19th November 1876. Services were held there until the land was sold in the 1980s and the building was demolished despite undergoing renovations in 1978. Members of the Catholic faith then worshipped at the Sunbury Catholic Church.
