Long raglan sleeves with a lace pattern along the raglan top of the sleeves, with a 10cm ribbed band at the wrist. A 5.5cm ribbed band at the hipline. Clothing. Cream kid-leather bound on sides and lower edge with a 5 cm wide light blue grosgrain ribbon,mitred at the lower corners. A Vshaped flap, edged on the Vshape, with a 4 cm wide blue ribbon, and attached to the apron at the top edge with a 4 cm wide blue ribbon, folded in half over the top edge. A blue rosette of the ribbon is attached to the centre of the flap, and there is a blue rosette at each side of the lower edge- all are attached by a 1.5 cm diameter blue silk covered button. Clothing - JOHN FREDERICK HARPER COLLECTION: PAIR WHITE COTTON GLOVES, 990's
Clothing. Gloves are bound at the wrist, and around a 7 cms long opening on the inside of the wrist. This opening fastens with a white plastic button 1.5 cm in diameter, and a hand-stitched button. Neither button or button hole appears to be original. On the back of the hand are three 7 cm long rows of stitching-appearing to be double rows, but done in one stitching action. Second from the left in the middle row is Elsie Stewart (nee Squires, born in Ballarat on August 5, 1886, married John Ernest Stewart on March 29, 1911). In the front is Cora Squires (born November 5, 1892) married 23/04/1916 to Melbourne jeweller Stanley White and Marie Stewart (daughter of Elsie and John Stewart, born June 20, 1912 in Bendigo). There is speculation about the remaining people. Back row first on the left: Carrie Stewart (nee Miller) wife of Alexander Stewart. Clothing - JOHN KENNETH MARTIN COLLECTION: WW2 ARMY UNIFORM JACKET, 1939-1945
Clothing, khaki woollen WW2 army uniform jacket. Single breasted with four brown metal AMF buttons (2 cm). Two breast pockets, (16 X 18 cm) with fold over tabs. All button tabs fastened with 1.5 cm metal buttons. Long sleeves with stitched down cuffs with V shaped peak on upper side. Both sleeves lined with cream and blue striped cotton fabric. 30 cm split at centre back from hem. Button down epaulettes on each shoulder with three captain's pips and two black stripes. Cloth badges on top of each sleeve. 1. Navy and red unit colour, (3 cm X 2.5 cm). 2. Light green, brown and blue colour (5 X 5 cm) (unknown). 2.5 X 2.5 cm square metal badges on each corner at front of collar. 5.5 cm wide cloth belt with metal buckle. Belt attached on side seams at waist by leather tabs threaded through belt keepers and fastened with 1.5 cm buttons. Cap belonged to John Kenneth Martin, padre in 2nd Australian Corps AIF. Men's black woollen dinner jacket with black polished cotton lapels. Single breasted fastened with one X 2cm black fabric covered button, with another button attached to the back. Body of jacket lined with black self stripe cotton fabric. Long sleeves lined with cream coloured polished cotton fabric with fine black stripes. Front pockets below waist have slit openings lined with black cotton fabric. Slits at wrists of sleeves (5cm) fastened with 1 X 1cm black fabric covered buttons. White cotton nurse's apron. Bodiec joins a 5 cm wide band and 60 cms long skirt. Skirt is plain in the front, with gathers at the back. Front of the bodice extends in wide 8 cms wide straps, which cross over at the back, and fasten with a button and buttonhole to the back waistband. The skirt of the apron extends right around the body, and overlaps, and fastens with two buttons and buttonholes 14 cms overlap. White cotton, nurse's apron, heavily starched. Three piece skirt, lightly gathered at back, adjoins a 4.5 cm waistband, and bib front which has broad shoulder straps 8.5 cms wide which cross at the back, and button to the waistband, leaving a 10 cm long rounded tab finished end. No buttons evident, which probably suggests removable buttons, fastened with safety pins, or "hair clip" type fasteners. Hand knitted, short sleeved dress, with a tiny square neckline, with a two button opening on each shoulder. A dainty pattern, which repeats every 10 rows. A 3 cm moss stitch band on each of the short sleeves. A 2 cm band of stocking stitch defines the skirt and yoke. Stocking stitch also defines the neckline and shoulder openings. Two little 1 cm plastic pearl buttons fasten the shoulder openings. Blue cesarine, trimmed with red and white check cotton. Bib has red and white centre panel, with a three cm band on each side. These bands extend over the shoulder, and cross at the back, to fasten with a button and button hole at the back waistline. Skirt gathers onto the 4 cmwide waistband. An 8.5 cm X 9 cm rectangular pocket of red and white check cotton on right hand side.
