92 NQR - Open Medium Truck, 2/ 3/1907
The NQRs were the standard Medium open goods wagon. Generally the sides and ends were removable thus providing a totally flat truck. Three long drop-down doors formed the sides thus allowing easy loading and unloading. 218 of these goods vehicles were built between 1898 and 1914 ? numbered 1 - 218. Originally, these wagons carried the code letter R as they were built with sides and ends. They later had the R removed. Unlike the Broad Gauge, VR's 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) narrow gauge network never had four-wheeled wagons (aside from a handful of trolleys). Because of this, a single design of open wagon emerged and this was the only type of wagon ever used on these lines. This was the NQR class, a wagon with the same length and loading capacity as a Broad Gauge four-wheeled open wagon to make transferring freight between the gauges easier. The wagons, numbered 1 through 218, were built between 1898 and 1914. The wagons used the same underframe as most other non-locomotives on the VR Narrow Gauge. Letters and numbers were originally painted only on the end bulkheads and doors, both of which could be removed as traffic dictated, and this made wagon identification difficult until the decals were transferred to the underframes of each wagon In the 1910s some NQRs were provided with removable wood and steel frameworks with canvas roof canopies and side curtains, and internal seating to supplement the rest of the passenger stock during busy holiday periods. Puffing Billy has re-created these for emergency capacity. Five more NQRs, numbered 219-223, were built between 1990 and 1992 initially for passenger use so were fitted with the removable frames In the 1960s the Puffing Billy Railway added grids in the floor of some to enable them to be used to drop ballast on the track where needed. From Victorian Heritage Database citation for HO40 Craigellachie 2b & 2c Lynedoch Avenue Caulfield North https://vhd.heritagecouncil.vic.gov.au/places/35209 as at (28/10/2020) Craigellachie" is situated at No. 2B Lynedoch Avenue, Caulfield North, and was built for the noted investor, pastoralist and politician, William Pearson, not earlier than 1864 and possible in 1876, undergoing several substantial and contributory extensions during the nineteenth century. It is historically and aesthetically significant. From Victorian Heritage Database citation for HO40 Craigellachie https://vhd.heritagecouncil.vic.gov.au/places/35209 as at (28/10/2020) It is historically significant (Criterion A) as the Melbourne home of William Pearson, MLA, MLC and principal shareholder in Walhalla's Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mining Co. which sustained the township well past the turn of the twentieth century and occupied fifth place amongst Victoria's richest mines. It is aesthetically significant (Criterion E) for its capacity to demonstrate Pearson's continuing financial success throughout the mid to late nineteenth century, the additions associated with the tower being most noteworthy as an example of the lasting appeal of the Italian Style, popularized in the pattern books of the day. The Ailanthus altissima (Tree of Heaven) is significant as an outstanding example of a species that is rare in cultivation, as well as for its very high aesthetic value. The Araucaria bidwilli is notable as a fine example of a species infrequently planted in Melbourne and rarely found in private suburban gardens.Page 161 - four photographs of Craigellachie dining room Handwritten: CRAIGELLACHIE DINING ROOM [top left] / Neg 218 1973 [under top left photo] / Neg 217 - 1973 [under top right photo] / Neg 216- 1973 [under bottom left photo] / Neg 215 1973 [under bottom right photo] / 161 [bottom left]trevor hart, orrong road, curved windows, italianate, mansion, 1870's, william pearson, inkerman street, decorative plaster work, rendered walls, moulded ornaments, 1860's, lynedoch avenue, classical style, caulfield north, craigellachie, land subdivision, late victorian style, dining rooms, ceiling roses, furnishings, fireplaces, st kilda east -

Five more NQRs, numbered 219-223, were built between 1990 and 1992 initially for passenger use so were fitted with the removable frames Vehicle Length 25 feet 2 inches ( 7671 mm) Coupled Length 27 feet 4 inches (8330 mm) Width 6 feet 3 inches (1905 mm) Weight 5 tons Capacity 11 tons Built 1898 - 1915 (1992) Number Built 218 (223) In use 14 To be restored 6 29 NQR - Open Medium Truck with drop ends VR Service History 15/12/1898 NWS Built new *NQR 29.VA - 15/12/1898 NWS Built new - / /1926 - To NQ 29.VA - NQ 29.VA - /10/1954 - Sold (to) - Puffing Billy Service History or Notes July 2016 - LiftedHistoric - Victorian Railways - Narrow Gauge Rolling Stock - NQR Open Medium Truck with drop ends29 NQR narrow gauge Open Medium Truck with drop ends made of Steel and metal 29NQRpuffing billy railway, pbr, rolling stock , 29 nqr, narrow gauge rolling stock, victorian railways, nqr wagon -

Painting, Margaret Robbie, "Temporary Accommodation, Heatherdale" - Water colour on paper by Margaret Robbie, circa 1950s
"Margaret Robbie was another of the local painters who came late to art or combined it with a quite different occupation. Her grandparents, John Shaw and Margaret (Byers), went to Hobart in 1855 but then crossed the Strait and settled in Kyenton where they remained until 1918. Margaret was the issue of the marriage of Mary Shaw and Robbie. She spent a considerable time overseas for the YWCA, including a period as its General Secretary in Toronto, Canada, and worked in the Middle East during World War 2. Margaret Robbie made her garage in Ringwood Street into a flat-cum-studio-cum-gallery for her painting activities when she was not caring for her sister and an elderly aunt." - Hugh Anderson - Ringwood, Place of Many Eagles [p.218].Painting with cardboard border in glass-fronted frame.Sticker on back of frame - "Ringwood Framing Gallery, 233 Whitehorse Road Ringwood, Phone 8704930"
