Alec Pederick was born in 1902 and left school at 15 to work on his parents' farm at Wyuna, Kyabrum,Victoria. After receiving a sense of call he trained for the Methodist ministry and was appointed to his first parish at Zeehan, Tasmania in 1927. He was called to serve with the Methodist Overseas Mission in New Britain and New Ireland in 1929. He married Dorothy Clarke just before he left. After four years in PNG he returned through ill-health to Victoria. He was appointed to the Beaufort Circuit in 1933 and then in 1936 to the Methodist Home Missions Department. He was called up as an Army chaplain in 1942 and sent on active service in Papua New Guinea. He was discharged in 1944 and returned to the Home Missions Department. He was appointed acting General Superintendent in 1944 and then General Superintendent in 1946, a position he held until 1962. He also served as Director of the Federal Methodist Inland Mission for a time. He died in 1972.Set of 8 photos (F68-3 has two additional copies) of Rev. Alec W. Pederick L. Th. The Inspirational Meeting and Communion Service for the Methodist Girls' Comradeship and the Methodist Order of Knights was held on Wednesday 3 January, 1951 at 8pm at Wesley Church, Lonsdale Street, Melbourne. The address was given by Rev H Palmer Phillips, President of Conference and Crusade Director. The new Warrnambool Methodist Church was opened on 1st April 1939. The Church complex was designed by Messrs A.S. and R.A. Eggleston and built by J.D.E. and T. Walter. It comprised a church seating 430 people, an assembly hall seating 300, kindergarten and primary classrooms. The three ministers present in the photograph were: Rev B. Wylie (Hamilton), Rev N. The foundation stone of the New Wesleyan Church, Were Street, Brighton, Victoria was laid by Mrs W P Wells, the wife of the Superintendent of the Brighton Circuit and President of the Victorian Wesleyan Conference in 1887. The foundation stone was temporarily removed in the late 1930s and the 1937 publication "Were Street Jubilee" details the "proposed Jubilee Church". Reverend Robert Morris Hunter was born in Scotland in 1839, married (1) Isabel McIntyre (1847-1890) in 1869 and (2) his deceased wife's sister Flora McIntyre in 1893. He died in Kooringa South Australia in 1894. He commenced his ministry in 1865 and served at Hamilton, Merino, Ballarat, Portland, Hamilton, Melbourne, Adelaide Archer Street, Moonta, Adelaide and Kooringa. Commemorative trowel from Wesley Church St Kilda, 22 October 1857. Alexander Fraser (1802-1888), businessman and politician. Fraser lived at St Kilda and in 1857 was elected to its first Municipal Council; in 1859 he became chairman and mayor in 1864-65. An active churchman, he held most important offices in the Wesleyan Church and for thirty years was treasurer of the supernumerary fund, which he helped Rev. Daniel Draper to found. Dour and pious, Fraser was conscientious in fulfilling his political duties. He presided at numerous meetings and laid countless foundation stones.Silver trowel with polished wooden handle.
