BLISS Trophy / Lady Skippers Short Course Trophy - This is now awarded for the BLISS series (Brighton Ladies in Sailing Series) which is held annually over a weekend or a Sunday. The BLISS regatta forms part of the Port Phillip Women's Championship series and so attracts sailors from other yacht clubs around the Bay. Photos feature a rowing regatta on Lake Wendouree, a Tram stop shelter (Grenville and Sturt Streets) decorated with hand-made flowers, an arch in Main Road built by local scouts and the Burke and Wills Statue in Sturt St decorated hand made flowers. The tram shelter has the numbers "100". "1838" and "1938" with several well-dressed ladies outside the shelter. Notes the celebrations will continue until April 18. The remaining trailers 2 and 3 (after Nos 1 and 4 had been motorised) and a line of Duncan & Fraser tramcars in the depot. The broken paving and heaps of sand suggest that the tram shed is being extended to add roads 3 and 4 to the west. That would date the photo as 1914. Regattas were held on the Barwon River at the terminus of the South tramline which was linked directly to the other suburban destinations, Newtown and West Geelong. The standard fare was 3d cash or, for some shorter "sectional" journeys, pre-paid 2d tickets. First used Boxing day 1936 at Nagambie, Launched by Mrs S.G. Williams wife of the Shire President. The champaign bottle failed to break and a hammer was required. The first race was rowed by H. Gayer (bow) W. Bourke (stroke), Ted Forbes (cox) winning maiden pairs and the same crew won lightweight pairs at Lake Moodemere 1st Jan 1937. The boat was then purchased with funds raised in a queen competition held in Rutherglen and contested by 3 queens, Elise Frances, Emma Howard and Peggy Bourke (the winner and she went on to marry the bow H.
