Functional Object - Ticket punch
Demonstrates how tram tickets could be punched and the manufacture of ticket punches.Brass cast, chrome plated, machined, device or ticket punch, used to cancel or punch paper tickets when purchased. Placed a round hole in the ticket. Spring loaded, consists of two main parts with a pin & spring in addition. . Chrome plate has been partly worn off. Secured by three screws, which are unusual. There are no manufacturer markings or numbers on the punch. Punch is very heavy in construction compared to other punches in the collection. Functional object - Destination Roll, Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB), "Camberwell Depot", 1950's
... , a section which has been added to the roll or repaired by adding... and other parts adjacent have been repaired. Image information ...Destination roll that was used in Camberwell Depot trams, Melbourne, until the late 1960's. Roll on linen, with white letters on black background. Has stencilled words "STOP CAMB" on bottom of roll, generally stencilled, though a few handwritten, miniature destination on rear to assist driver to locate the destination. Letters approx. 140 high. Roll consists of an unpainted section 525 long at top and 165 long unpainted section at base. Painted section approx. 9.9m long. Has on the bottom of the roll, a section which has been added to the roll or repaired by adding a new section. Some repainting of the old destinations also apparent. The middle of three "CITY" destinations and other parts adjacent have been repaired. Equipment - Part of overhead - corroded eye bolt, 2024
Item show corrosion of part of the eye bolt that supports the overhead in Wendouree Parade that has occurred primarily around the screw thread. Also shows how the span wire is terminated around a thimble that is fitted to the eye bolt. The item was probably erected by the SEC during the mid-1930s and replaced by the BTM 2024. Salvaged from Wendouree Parade during overhead span wire replacement and repair work in March 2024 undertaken by the BTM. Model of Ballarat tram 26 in SEC green and cream colour scheme. The Modeller has detailed the seats in side the end saloons. Balsa wheels had broken off, repaired with 'O' gauge wheels along with other parts by the Museum's model builder. Tram has the destination of Victoria St.Demonstrates model tram building.
