The letter was written by Allen Quinn to his mother. Allen started working as a seafarer when he was 16 years old, and frequently wrote to his mother during his travels. He also created an extensive photograph collection, which corresponds with the letters.The letter is part of an ongoing correspondence between Allan and his mother. The first letter talks about the trip from Australia to San Francisco, and the second is about returning to Melbourne.Two letters addressed to Mrs S. Quinn, "Sanlorenzo", 63 Ocean Beach, Manly, N.S.W, Australia, in six parts. Part 0153 Envelope, Part 0153.1-5 Letter Pages. The first letter begins "My dear Mum, Arived here safely..." and concludes with "P.S. The model is slowly coming along...", and is dated 27.6.45. The second letter begins "My Dear Mum, Well, I am now in Melb. ... " and concludes with ""P.S. We were very late in leaving...", and is dated 12.9.45. Three copies of a Letter, dated November 5, 1936, from Sister M. Monica to Sister Mary Gonzaga, relating to her the benefits of using scalebuoys in the water to the boilers and hot water systems. It had removed scale from the pipes. The only problem they had was the scale that had fallen off blocking the traps and that soon stopped.
