Sign - Gambling on Board's premises, Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB), c1960
Gambling at Tram Depots was common and resulted in the loss of wages. See attached document with notes by Peter Bruce. The MMTB tried to restrict it, but it still took place. Letter - City of Ballarat and Borough of Sebastopol re closure, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), 1/2/1962
Letter - four duplicated foolscap sheets, dated 1/2/1962 to the Town Clerks of the City of Ballarat and the Borough of Sebastopol advised that the SECV is planning to close the Ballarat system. Details the losses, fares not covering costs, TRB for alternative bus services, the future of the tramway employees. Signed by D H Munro, SECV Secretary Enclosed a number of copies of the letter for Councillors and the Press.
