Issued to Service Personal whilst on active service to render first aid if required.Unopened rectangle packet covered in off-white cotton (or similar) containing a bandage and gauze pad. The front of the package is printed with an inscription identifying it as a 'First Field Dressing' along with a list of contents and instructions for use in blue writing. Text crossed with diagonal red arrow from bottom right hand side pointing to top left corner. FIRST FIELD DRESSING Tear apart the uncemented corner as indicated by the arrow and remove the paper. Take the folded ends of the bandage in each hand, and, keeping the bandage taut, apply the gauze pad to the wound and fix the bandage. In case of head wounds when respirators have to be worn, care should be taken to adjust the pad so that it does not interfere with the fit of the face piece. An X-ray technician, he enlisted on 07 JUN 1940 at Caulfield, Vic. and served in the Middle East, Ceylon and Australia mainly with 2/4th Aust. General Hospital. Discharged 20 MAY 1947. Circa WW2 1940 - 1945. Used for RAAF Trainee pilots for Wirraway and Tiger Moth training. This helmet belonged to Francis Robertson, trainee RAAF Pilot who crashed his aircraft into Nurse Carter's residence at Chiltern (May 30th, 1943) whilst on a training flight from Advanced Training Squadron Deniliquin NSW. The Helmet is associated with Francis Robertson WW2 RAAF Pilot, trained at Number 7 Flying School Deniliquin NSW. Khaki Canvas and metal helmet used in WW2 circa 1943 for trainee pilots of Wirrway's and Tiger moths. Made of sturdy heavy duty canvas with some metal underlay, leather and sheepskin straps, brass attachment buckles. Canvas kit with leather carrying/shoulder strap. Two silver metal studs are on the front flap which fasten the kit together. The kit holds an assortment of tinctures, spoon, ointment, bandages of assorted sizes (guage type), tweezers, safety pins, anbd wound pad. This type of kit is typical of a section or platoon medical kit used when out on patrol or exercise. The name "HOLLOWAY' regarding RAAF - only one possible name for WW2.Jacket - dark blue colour wool serge fabric. This jacket has been adapted from a RAAF Service dress jacket to resemble a RAAF Battle Dress Jacket. possibly made in the Norther Territory or on the Islands WW2. Collar, shoulder epaulettes, long sleeves with cuffs and buttons, two front patch pockets with concealed button flaps. Waistband with belt strap and metal slide buckle to fasten jacket. Associated with issue to personnel leading up to and including WW2 in Britain . Circa pre 1940's. Associated with issue during WW2. Small cream coloured tin with white cross centrally placed on the lid. Tin opens with hinges and has wording on the lid "Aid A;; First Aid Outfit Tin made in England". There is a faded description of the contents. Within the tin is a smaller cream and red coloured circular tin containing boric ointment. The first aid outfit tin is 130mm x 75 and the small circular tin with boric ointment is 35mm x 35mm. The lid of the tin says : Aid All First Aid, a white cross emblem and underneath the emblem the wording OUTFIT TIN. There is a description of the items and then the annotation that the tin is made in England.
