First photo features Stephen Butler in the cab of tramcar, with another tramcar (40) in the background - taken at depot junction, some details on the Ballarat Tramway system and details of the BTM itself. A second photograph features four trams at the Loop (40, 671, 13 and 26) during Boxing Day 1999. Details of the program production on page 3. Guides Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society conductors about their duties, ticket issuing, pay-ins sales etc. Was the first version of this document. Prepared by Peter Walker. The first version was issued 1/11/1989. see item 8875. Was collected from the depot 1/2001 when a new version of the Guidelines was issued. In use from c1990 to 2001 as a sample copy and loaned to new conductors. Document originally prepared by Peter Walker, who passed away 24/9/2005 - see Reg Item 6838 for Obituary.Demonstrates BTPS documentation for crew use.Folder containing in plastic sheets, the 1/5/1990 version of the Ballarat Vintage Tramway Operating Guidelines. The document is a photocopied version of "Issue 2 / 1.5.90" on yellow paper. It consists of 33 sheets which have been amended in a number of places to adjust for cash floats, fares, museum sales tin. Thirty Six page colour booklet, with heavy grade (light card) paper covers and heavy grade paper interior, giving details of public transport in the Ballarat area. Titled "Your Guide to Ballarat Transit", effective from January 1992. Booklet has two centre staples. Gives details of the fare structure, services, route details and index, timetables for each route on weekdays, Saturdays and if a Sunday service. Inside of rear cover folds out (btm1646i1), presenting a colour map of the bus routes around Ballarat, with details of the City area and an inset for the Buninyong route. Rear cover and shows a map for rail and road services that pass through Ballarat, or connect from other services. On rear cover gives contact information for Davis Bus Lines. Folded pamphlet, brochure, titled "Lake Wendouree Information Brochure" produced by the City of Ballarat giving information on Lake Wendouree, fishing, water quality, sport, restrictions, a guide to lake features, history, wildlife, ecosystem and a small section of the Golden City Paddle Steamer and Ballarat Vintage Trams. Printed on recycled paper (cream coloured 1993; or white 1996) in green ink. Folded into four. The 1996 brochure has been revised, primarily with reference to the map. See Reg. Demonstrates aspects of the Ballarat Tramways system of training Motorman or drivers in the 1960's and the information there were given on driving trams. Shows the training methods of the time. 3486.1 - also details "Dead Man Brakes"Thirty Three page - carbon copy - within stapled light card covers - Ballarat Motorman (Driver) Training Manual or Guide - not a formal title. On front cover is large letter "G" and words "To be returned to the inspectors office after completion of Training as Motorman" First four pages has index and covers: (A) Tramcar Equipment - electrical - items or clauses 1 to 28 (B) Location of Faults - items 29 - 41 (C) Tramcar Braking - items 42 to 59 (D) Failure of the Mechanical Brakes - items 60 to 67 (E) Tramcar Emergency Braking (Accident Prevention) - items 68 - 72 (F) Automatic Electric Signals - items 73 - 82 - gives locations of signals. (G) General Instructions - items 83 to 98. See condition notes - not in the best condition - needs careful handling. 3486.4 - ditto - similar to above, but 34 pages through to instruction 104. Added section (F) after (E) - "Automatic Braking - clauses 72 - 79, possibly an earlier version of above when trams were fitted with dead man controls. Held within a cardboard folder with a metal binder. Cover has been covered with brown paper and adhesive tape, but only remains on the inside of the cover. Item added 3/10/2007. See Reg Item 8110i for a Bendigo, c1940 version.See above 3486.1 - has "Hall G - M.Cond" on front cover.
