The Chicory Kiln built in 1870, a two storey brick building is adjoined by West's General Store, built in 1869 to cater for the needs of the Settlers. A large Gum Tree and finally houses follow on from these two buildings. The Sea Baths at Cowes were built about 1893. They were erected by the Shire Council and administered by that body. Mixed bathing was not allowed.
