The Bendigo and District Tourist Association asked council's approval to develop an area of about eight acres surrounding the old Nell Gwynne Mine. They also asked that notices be put up to stop people dumping rubbish. The Royal Historical Society also requested that the Victoria Hill area be cleaned up.
