The conductor of W class tram 274 with the destination of Melbourne is holding the pole while it rounds the curve, and in the background is W class tram 386 (St Kilda Beach). A cable tram replacement bus, Reg No. 86053, with the destination of Brighton Rd is passing a policeman on point duty. Various construction equipment and materials can be seen as well as a work gang in St Kilda road, dismantling the cable tram track or constructing new permanent track.
