The dance and concert advertised on the sign was to take place at the hall which was in the grounds of the Sunbury Asylum, commonly referred by residents as 'The Hill'. A number of community events took place at the hall within the asylum complex.The Sunbury Asylum was an important institution for patients, employees and Sunbury residents for many years in the town. Ringwood Market is now on the left behind the picket fence and the new telephone exchange is now just past where the picket fence is. Our second telephone exchange was just behind this post office. Note how bare Loughnans Hill was. c 1930s".

People are unknown as is the area. Stubbs. F. J Stubbs operated as a photographer in Victoria between 1858 and 1908. G. U. Petterd as picture framer operated from Timor Street. He also acted as a house, land and commission agent and dealt in books, fine arts and toys.
