Owned by Martin Balsarini, a resident of Chiltern Valley, for use in WW1. Service Number 1682. Martin Balsarini enlisted on the 21/7/1915 and served with the 4th Australian Lighthorse, AIF. He participated in what is known as the last great cavalry charge, the charge of the 4th Australian Lighthorse at Beersheba on the 31/10/1917. Pay books issued to Frederick William Gage an Australian Army serviceman who served in the 1st AIF as a gunner and the 2nd AIF as a sergeant. The WW1 paybook, number 267888, was issued on the 20th October, 1916. The WW2 paybook, number C 75091, was issued on the 4th June, 1940. The WW2 paybook contains photographs of the serviceman.
