Negative No. N377 and black and white print made by a laser printer (stored in folder) of Ballarat No. 17 at the City Terminus, Sturt St. Tram has destination of "Victoria St." and a White Horse whiskey dash panel advertisement. Has the short tram stop/section pole adjacent to the tram. In the background has the SEC offices, "The Baby Shop", also Crockers and Tunbridge's stores. Note a Conductor can be seen walking across from the SEC offices to the tram. Date of photo on folder - 11/6/1960. Note: Reg Item 858 of Ron Fluck of 31/12/58 shows tram number to the side of the headlight while Wal Jack (Reg. Item 396) of 23/1/61 shows tram fitted with dash canopy lights. Original negative rescanned 24/5/2020 and image file updated.Paper folder that contained the negative had "NR39A" in red ink, "BA4" in pencil, date stamp of "5 Sep 1960" on front, and on rear date stamps "26 Sep 1962" and "6 Oct 1962".trams, tramways, city terminus, sturt st, tram 17 -

Printed black and white postcard of a Ballarat horse tram arriving at the Grenville St. terminus, at the bottom end of Sturt St terminus. Has buildings on both sides of Sturt St. in photograph, with some other horse drawn vehicles and a few pedestrians. In the photo are Suttons building, and business near Grenville St. of an Ironmonger and S. Laurens? On the front of the card is written a short message: - "Mother and self arrived safely in Ballarat. Train did not get in till ten o'clock. Love to all, thank for kindness. Jessie Frewin. On rear is places for correspondences stamp, address. On left hand edge is "H. J. Summerscales, next Post Office, Ballarat." Has cancellation stamp, Ballarat 3.40pm, 19.11.04" or could be 1901. Also another cancellation stamp over the red Victorian stamp with a "5" in the centre. Black and white photograph of the intersection of Sturt and Lydiard Sts from the Post Office, looking towards Ballarat Town Hall, c1910. In foreground of photograph is a ESCo tram, without windscreens hauling a horse tram (east bound) and on the other side of Sturt St. a single ESCo tram. Many people walking the street. On top of photograph is the words "Town Hall and Sturt Street, Balla", the rest of the words having been cropped out. The trailer is one of the seven window horse trams. Yields information about the change over from horse to electric trams and a comparison between the two types of trams, uniforms and clothing of passengers and the way destinations were shown.Black and White photograph, assumed a copy photograph of ESCo 16 and a horse tram - at Rubicon St where Sebastopol passengers transferred between horse and electric transport. No. 16 has two uniformed men at the front and a conductor on the rear stop, two children on the front seat and a lady on the rear. A uniformed horse tram driver is standing by the front of the horse. No. 16 has the destination of Grenville St, and a large sign "Sebastopol & Rubicon St Tramways via Drummond St". The destination is on the roof of the tram, possibly indicating early 1907 - 08. Used in The Golden City and its Tramways - page 42. Text notes the photograph was donated by a Mrs. I Butler. Three additional copies of the same photograph and a handwritten note from the donation of Karelyn Satter added 2-3-2016. .2 - handwritten note from the rear of photograph .3 (can be seen from the tape marks - was loose when received), giving the name of the man on the back step of the electric car - Frank Greenfield (Junior) and notes on the photograph itself. .3 - print mounted onto heavy brown cardboard with a scorch mark in the top left hand corner. .4 - print .5 - copy print on a small sheet - darker image. items .2, .3 and .4 to rear of box 77On rear of .3 has in ink "Mr. B. Shows buildings on either side of Main St. and the Caltex service station in the background on Main Road and Bridge St. Photo taken 23-6-1962.
