Henry Beater Christian (1886-1962) , was a descendant of one of the earliest settler families in Kew. Employed at the Kew Asylum as a 'public servant', he was a skilled amateur photographer, photographing numerous scenes in Kew and on his travels around Victoria. The majority of his photographs date from 1916 to 1929. His finest photographs are housed in two photograph albums. John Chapman has written in 'Bushwalking Clubs - A Brief History', about the establishment in Victoria of the first bushwalking club in 1888, and the popularisation of bushwalking during the interwar period. Set of documents associated with the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant that commenced operations in 1982 and ceased in 2018 due to dispute with Yarra Trams over the safety of the tramcars. The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 in to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. It was the first independent school of nursing in Victoria and continued until it closed in 1989. The book "The First of its Kind" was published in 2015. Printed in Bendigo by "Bendigo Modern Press". Memories compiled by Peter Rosewall; who attended the last NDSN school PTS 108 between 1986 - 89.Three items submitted by Charles Hemley. Included is a letter submitted in personal handwriting by Charles Hemley who was the gardener at NDSN from 1976 to 1989 for the last 13 years. He describes his duties as the gardener and his training consisted of four years of night school at Bendigo TAFE. Included are a photograph of nurses and a gardener sitting on the lawn. Include a newspaper article about Lister House from the Bendigo Advertiser. The photograph has a car parked out the front and the title is Bendigo - The Way we were. Report looked into the future of the Yallourn Township. Has a brief history of the location, the SEC power generation and its relationship the history of Vitoria. Lists the parliamentary inquiry board members, the witnesses, a table of the community organisations based at Yallourn township, coal reserves and costs. The Parliamentary Committee recommended that the SEC proposal be followed, that is close the township and mine the coal reserves that were under the township. This cookery book was produced in 2014 as a school fundraiser. It was purchased at Allansford Cheese World in January 2015 for $15. Allansford school was established as a National School in 1856 on land reserved for the purpose by John McMahon Allan. It comprised two sandstone classrooms -one for boys and one for girls -with an attached pise teacher's residence. In 1872 when the Victorian Education Department was set up existing schools were listed in alphabetical order and given a number. Allansford State School was No.3. The school was enlarged in the late 1800s and again in the early 1920s. In 1994 following the amalgamation of the Allansford, Allans Forest and Naringal schools a new school was built which adjoined the existing buildings. The old buildings were refurbished as administration and staff facilities. John McMahon Allan settled in the area in 1839 with his brother William Osborne Allan. They were the sons of David Allan, Deputy Commissary General during Macquarie's term of government. The brothers divided the station with William retaining the Allandale portion and John naming his portion Tooram. John McMahon Allan was president of the early district Roads Board. In an attempt to recoup some of the heavy losses due to the disastrous Bateman fire of 1854 John subdivided a portion of Tooram at the Hopkins River crossing known as Allans ford.
